Reporting to the Publications & Content Manager, the Editor (up to one year) is responsible for editing content for internal and external audiences to ensure quality communication of key messages aligned with APEGA's goals and objectives. This includes print and online copy and considers the needs of and appropriate communication methods for various audiences, such as staff, members, stakeholders, and the public.

**Responsibilities**:

- Editing and fact checking online and print content informing public, staff, and members of important APEGA messages.
- Editing various content pieces including:

- practice standards, bulletins, and guidelines and other regulatory documents (e.g., templates, forms) to ensure clarity and consistency
- articles for the ePEG newsletter and apega.ca website
- external newsletter inclusions
- speeches for APEGA's executive team and councillors
- biographies of event and webinar speakers, APEGA's executive team and councillors, and other APEGA members
- advertising copy and key messages
- social media posts
- news releases, backgrounders, and media advisories
- surveys to ensure they are free of biased or leading language.
- learning materials produced by APEGA
- Proofreading online and print content including reviewing document proofs to check for errors and inconsistencies.
- Reviewing apega.ca web pages for errors and inconsistencies.

Competencies, Skills & Attributes
- Competencies: attention to detail, editing skills, impact and influence, problem solving and adaptability.
- Demonstrated knowledge of communication best practices and ethics.
- Proficiency in substantive and copy editing, as well as proofreading.
- Ability to interpret and edit technical and jargon-heavy documents to fit the audience.
- Excellent organization and time-management skills.
- Proficiency working with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Able to function with a high degree of independence and to collaborate effectively across departments.

**Qualifications**:

- Post-secondary degree in public relations, communications, or journalism is an asset.
- Three years of related experience with demonstrated knowledge of editing best practices.
- Editing certification (e.g., an accredited editing or publishing certificate or professional certification through Editors Canada) is an asset.
