The Partnership’s Cancer Systems, Performance and Innovation (CPSI) Division drives improvements in Canada’s cancer system through data, research, economic modelling and innovations such as digital healthcare. This division monitors emerging health technologies and leverages data systems to determine gaps and opportunities for improvements in cancer care and informs internal partners on innovative approaches, international best practice and compelling evidence to support key partnership decision making.
The Research and Innovation team, part of the CPSI division, promotes cancer research across Canada as well as driving the adoption of innovative approaches. It supports this work through its role as the Executive Office of the Canadian Cancer Research Alliance (CCRA) and its activities scanning international and academic best practice.
**Overview of Role**
The Librarian, Research and Innovation supports the Cancer Systems, Performance & Innovation (CSPI) Division in carrying out projects and initiatives to achieve organizational priorities. Reporting to the Manager, Research and Innovation, the Librarian provides information management, training, and support so staff can best achieve organizational objectives.
As a highly organized professional with strong time management skills, this position delivers on the tasks of the job while contributing to CPAC’s overall vision to reduce the burden of cancer on all Canadians.
The Research and Innovation team, part of the CSPI division, promotes cancer research across Canada as well as driving the adoption of innovative approaches. It supports this work through its role as the Executive Office of the Canadian Cancer Research Alliance (CCRA) and its activities scanning international and academic best practice.
The Research and Innovation team’s Evidence Services function supports the work of teams in scoping, creating, procuring, managing, and assessing evidence. The Librarian will work closely with Evidence Services to ensure the Partnership provides equitable and efficient access to information and training for all staff.
An equitable cancer system is fundamental to improving cancer care in Canada and around the world. Equity is embedded in the ultimate outcomes of the 2019-2029 Canadian Strategy for Cancer Control and improving health equity in cancer care is a high priority for the Partnership.

**Core Responsibilities & Activities**
Library Services
- Manage library vendor contracts and subscriptions by conducting comparative market scans, managing content acquisition, negotiations, contracting, and adhering to scheduled renewal periods
- Liaise with consortia and other library networks, and content providers/vendors to maintain resource subscriptions/purchases and participate in resource sharing, communicate with vendors to resolve access issues
- Manage and monitor online information portal where literature access resources, procedures and requests will be located
- Oversee and coordinate the copyright compliance program, copyright tracking and permissions monitoring, and advising on copyright issues in project reports
- Advise, maintain, and troubleshoot bibliographic and organizational databases
Reference and Research Services
- Technical support and problem-solving for staff use of information resources (e.g. databases, platforms)
- Design and conduct searches of academic and grey literature
- Provide research consultations and support for systematic, scoping, and rapid reviews and assisting including:
- Reviewing and refining staff research questions
- Conducting information requirements analysis
