The SHAE Worker will provide urban Indigenous youth with a wide range of culturally based programs, services, and activities that are locally controlled and designed in conjunction with the youth. These programs, services and activities will be structured in a manner that will empower Indigenous youth to address the challenges they face and determine their own future with a sense of pride in a safe and culturally relevant environment.

**QUALIFICATIONS**:

- College Certificate and/or Diploma in Child and Youth Work, Indigenous studies, or a combination of the equivalent and relevant education;
- 2 years demonstrated and work-related experience within an Indigenous community and/or organization is an asset;
- High level of proficiency with Microsoft Office suite;
- Knowledge of Indigenous and non-Indigenous community supports and services;
- Strong knowledge and awareness of Indigenous culture and history, with particular on the emphasis on the impacts of trauma;
- High flexibility with strong interpersonal skills that allow one to work effectively in a diverse environment;
- Demonstrated ability to build and maintain lasting working relationships;
- Non-violent Crisis Intervention
- First Aid/CPR certification or be willing to be certified;
- Must be available to work some evenings and occasional weekends;
- Valid driver’s license with clear driving record is an asset;
- Must have or obtain, within 30 days of hiring date, a Vulnerable Sector CPIC.

HRIC is a highly flexible organization offering additional compensation including 5 paid cultural days, 4 paid holidays beyond mandatory Employment Standards, paid shutdown over the Christmas holiday week, and health benefits. HRIC health benefits are offered to full time permanent employees, employees will be able to enroll upon the successful completion of their (3) three-month probationary period.
