**Position Summary**:
We are looking for a highly organized and detail-oriented **Intermediate Bookkeeper** to join our accounting team. In this role, you will manage critical day-to-day financial tasks, ensuring precise record-keeping and timely financial reporting. **Duties and Responsibilities**:
Accounting Operations:

- Accurately record financial transactions, including purchases, billing, receipts, and payments, using established accounting systems.
- Oversee accounts payable processes, verifying, coding, and entering supplier invoices to ensure timely payment.
- Conduct regular reconciliations of bank and credit card statements, resolving discrepancies, errors, or unrecorded transactions.
- Support month-end and year-end closings by recording and reconciling all relevant information.
- Record journal entries and maintain the general ledger, ensuring accurate classification of assets, liabilities, revenue, and expenses.
- Assist with monthly account reconciliations for assets and liabilities.

Medical Billing:

- Process medical billing claims in compliance with regulations and guidelines, maintaining accuracy and efficiency.
- Verify insurance coverage and eligibility for patient billing.
- Prepare and submit claims to insurance companies, both electronically and on paper.
- Follow up on unpaid or denied claims, resolving billing discrepancies promptly.
- Maintain patient billing records with strict confidentiality.
- Collaborate with healthcare providers and insurers to address billing inquiries and disputes.
- Stay informed on changes in medical billing codes, regulations, and reimbursement policies.

Process Improvement:

- Identify and implement improvements to streamline accounting processes and enhance operational efficiency.
- Establish best practices and internal controls to mitigate risk and improve financial workflows.

**Qualifications and Requirements**:

- Formal education or training in bookkeeping or accounting.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in bookkeeping or accounting roles.
- Comprehensive understanding of financial accounting principles.
- Proficiency in accounting software, with Xero experience preferred.
- Familiarity with medical billing, including coding and procedures, is preferred.
- Experience with ClearDent and/or Accuro or PS Suites EMR software is an asset.

**Skills and Abilities**:

- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build relationships across all levels of the organization.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Demonstrated capacity to work both independently and collaboratively in a high-paced environment.
- Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
