**About Our Opportunity**:
The Coordinator of Community Child and Youth Caring Programs coordinates the Department’s provincial Child and Youth Caring Services for children and youth who are in the care of the Minister of Community Services.

This a critical role in the Department as you have a direct impact on strengthening the frameworks for our services and programs; enhancing and providing the best services to our most vulnerable children and youth.

**Primary Accountabilities**:
As the Coordinator, you will ensure that programs comply with legislative requirements set out in the Children's and Family Services Act. You also contribute to the development and implementation of a full continuum of care. You will achieve this by:

- developing, evaluating, and monitoring policies, procedures, and standards;
- coordinating with Child Caring facilities and ensuring that placement and treatment needs of children and youth are met;
- providing direction and advising department staff of the Children and Family Services Act and Regulations;
- developing Service Agreements working collaboratively with Regional Staff in negotiating with Boards and Service Providers; and
- assessing and developing provincial budget estimates including identifying provincial pressures and opportunities to strengthen the continuum of care for children and youth.

This is a highly collaborative position requiring your knowledge and expertise in Child Welfare, Child Protection, Children in Care, Foster Care and Child and Youth Caring programs. You will participate on various provincial committees, stakeholder meetings, and regularly meet and consult with other government departments and community agencies.

**Qualifications and Experience**:
You have a related Bachelors degree or Diploma in social sciences (such as Social Work, and Child and Youth) and several years of experience in Child Welfare, Foster Care, Adoption, Children in Care, Protection and Child and Youth Care Programs.

An in-depth knowledge and expertise with respect to child welfare programs and policies, as well as the Children and Family’s Services Act is required. Computer capabilities such as Word, Excel, and Outlook are required. As travel is a component of this position, a valid driver’s licence and access to a reliable vehicle is also required.

You must have excellent organizational skills, strong and effective communication (both verbal and written) and interpersonal abilities which are critical to the successful performance of this position. You must be strategically orientated and can engage and mobilize various community partners and stakeholders. You must be able to demonstrate a positive profile while making difficult decisions within a complex multi-system environment. You are highly motivated, adaptable to change, and have demonstrated experience in situations requiring innovative and proactive solutions. Previous supervisory experience, along with working knowledge of current and applicable provincial legislation, regulations, polices, and standards; and experience in Child and Youth Care are considered assets.

We will assess the above qualifications and competencies using one or more of the following tools: written examination, standardized tests, oral presentations, interview(s), and reference checks.
