**Position Description - Marine Biologist / Scientist**
**About GreatPacific**
**Education**:
B.Sc. Ocean Sciences, Marine/Freshwater Biology or related field; or Diploma in Environmental Technology. Registered, or eligible for Registration as a BIT or EP is an asset.
**Responsibilities**:
- Support regulatory permitting for marine construction
- Environmental data analysis and interpretation
- Technical writing and report preparation
- Planning and executing field work to collect environmental data (e.g. water, sediment, species, habitat)
- Support with budget development and proposal writing
- Developing relationships with clients
- Maintain technical knowledge in professional practice.
**Core Competencies**:
- Minimum 2 years experience in an environmental consulting or similar role;
- Customer service attitude;
- Excellent organization and time-management skills to meet deadlines;
- Excellent technical writing skill;
- Good knowledge of aquatic ecology, species and habitats;
- Ability to work in the field in a variety of weather conditions, and with limited direction;
- Environmental sampling/surveying using a variety of field instruments (e.g. bathymetry, ADCP,CTD);
- Willingness to travel for project work, as needed;
- Divers License;
**Other Beneficial Skills / Experience**:
- Data management and statistics using R or Remotely Operated Vehicle (ROV) experience similar Working aboard boats
- Experience in other areas of environmental Modelling (e.g. Dilution, Hydrotechnical) science (e.g. toxicology, wildlife, vegetation) Marine certifications (SVOP, MEDA3, ROC-M);
- Operating GIS software OHS Level 1 First Aid;
- Commercial diving certification Familiarity with marine construction
