**About Business is Jammin’**
Business is Jammin’ (BIJ) is a province-wide charitable initiative of the Black Business Initiative (BBI) that focuses on motivating Black and minority youth and stresses the importance of education and personal development in all of its programs. BIJ’s goals are to deliver a comprehensive enterprise and entrepreneurship learning strategy and instill business skills that will offer long-term benefits to young people. BIJ shapes youth into vibrant members of the business community. We work with young people through a range of educational, social, mentorship, and financial support programs to build business acumen and leadership skills.
**Job Summary**
We are looking for an energetic individual to join our team as a Summer Design & Marketing Coordinator. We are a growing organization looking to take a fresh and creative approach to advance the Business is Jammin’ brand. The Design & Marketing Coordinator will be responsible for designing marketing material, producing monthly newsletters, branding program curriculum, updating the website, designing social media posts, and creating key documents. An integral part of this position is producing content for both print and online. The Summer Design & Marketing Coordinator will serve in a support capacity with the current communications team and the position often includes administrative duties, such as meeting coordination, production timeline development, and scheduling social posts.
**Key Responsibilities**
- Creation of graphics for digital and print purposes
- Assist with creating and updating marketing materials and campaign planning
- Develop and produce marketing materials, including advertising, collateral pieces, newsletters, and other special marketing initiatives
- Help to develop and maintain social media content calendar, including proofreading, writing status updates, tweets, posts, etc.
- Manage market research, member surveys and public polls
- Gather, report, and analyze digital media metrics and results using various tools, and provide insights from the industry and overall marketing campaign
- Work on special projects and other duties/responsibilities as assigned
**Qualifications**
- Experience with content development, website and social media management including paid advertising
- Highly organized, able to work independently with mínimal supervision, and meet deadlines
- Strong attention to detail, an eye for good design, and a solid understanding of branding and visual identity best practices
- A strategic thinker and planner - ability to anticipate, analyze and think through issues, problems and generate new ideas; strive for innovation
This position is funded through Canada Summer Jobs initiative of the Youth Employment and Skills Strategy and has specific criteria:
- You must be between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of the employment
- Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred
- Have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada
- Note: this position is not open to International students
