Position Summary:
Biodiversity Engagement Intern
CONTEXT
The mission of
MOOS
is to create a culture of sustainability at McGill. MOOS aims to identify, connect, and enhance efforts to incorporate principles of sustainability (ecological, social, and economic) into research, education, connectivity, operations, and governance & administration at McGill. We provide the institutional memory and knowledge, the network of partnerships, the framework for sustainability at McGill
Climate & Sustainability Strategy
), and the seed funding
Sustainability Projects Fund
) to facilitate the sustainability efforts of students, faculty, and staff.

DUTIES
- Plan and coordinate events to promote engagement activities in line with the McGill Biodiversity Plan 2030 (i.e. tabling at kiosks, workshops, quiz nights)
- Attend monthly Biodiversity Engagement Committee meetings
- Collaborate with the Biodiversity Engagement Committee and Office of Science Outreach in the planning of campus-wide engagement activities (e.g., campus bioblitzes, biodiversity festival)
- Produce posters, flyers, and other promotional materials in support of biodiversity-related MOOS initiatives and events
- Coordinate and collaborate with MOOS communications team in the creation of biodiversity-related social media content
QUALIFICATIONS
- Reliable, with strong organization and time management skills
- Ability to work independently, with limited supervision
- Willingness to conduct workshops and facilitate activities involving students, staff, and faculty
- Understanding of basic ecology and biodiversity principles
- Ability to communicate in French an asset
- Experience in event planning an asset
- Knowledge of sustainability initiatives and groups at McGill an asset
- Being based at MacDonald Campus an asset
