**Salary**: $70,200/year + 10% in lieu of benefits

The Associate to the COO plays a crucial role in expanding the COO’s time by providing high-level organizational, project management, administrative support as well as communication and research and analysis.

The ASSOCIATE TO THE COO is a proactive ‘doer’ with sound judgement, excellent written communication skills and exceptional interpersonal skills. They possess strong attention to detail and are able to consistently produce high-quality work on deadline. They can also be trusted to handle confidential and/or sensitive information with care and tact. The role will provide access to people and conversations that can accelerate a career.

**Key Responsibilities**

Conduct research and analysis
- Conduct research and analysis on relevant topics to support the COO in decision-making, management and strategic delivery/execution.
- Work with members of the Grand Challenges Canada team to identify operational challenges and opportunities that can be addressed to drive radical cohesiveness and greater functional integration.
- Provide insights and analysis on emerging risks, organizational performance measurement and monitoring and business process opportunities.

Provide high-level administrative/organizational support to the COO
- Liaise with the Executive Assistant to manage COO schedule and meetings.
- Provide effective meeting support by preparing/organizing relevant materials including clear objectives, agendas, presentation materials and participants.
- Draft key follow-up action items and summaries of meetings with a critical lens of what is strategically important to the organization and who should be looped in.

Support project management and corporate priorities
- Assist with managing key corporate-wide projects and top organizational priorities including identifying risks/contingencies, identifying emerging barriers and measuring progress.
- Coordinate, prepare and schedule ad hoc interventions for the COO with project teams where required to marshal and enable cross-functional engagement.
- Draft, review, and edit correspondence and communications on behalf of the COO.
- Source, create and/or maintain centralized repositories of corporate materials to support cross-functional access to relevant materials.
- Provide other relevant support, as needed.

**Qualifications**
- Undergraduate degree in a relevant discipline or commensurate work experience
- 2-4 years of work experience or commensurate post-graduate degree
- Demonstrated leadership qualities in academic, work, extracurricular or community activities
- Excellent project management, organizational and time management skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills

**Location and Work Requirements**:

- We are currently working in a hybrid model with time in office and working from home. With rare, approved exceptions, GCC staff are to live in or near the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) and available to travel to, and work from the Toronto main office, as business operational needs require. Any expenses related to travel and or relocating to Toronto are the sole responsibility of the employee and will not be reimbursed by GCC.

**Temporary Full-Time Benefits**
- 10% in lieu of benefits.
- 20 days of vacation (10.5 days covered by 4% in lieu of vacation and 9.5 topped up by GCC to equalize with permanent full-time staff) for each 12-month period of an employee’s contract
- Four (4) day work week (with Friday as a flex/off day), excluding weeks with Statutory holiday (program reviewed
