The Adult Education Division (AED) is dedicated to improving the education and employment prospects of Nova Scotia's adults by funding, developing, and coordinating adult education programs and services, promoting family literacy, supporting the recognition of prior learning and international qualifications, and ensuring fair registration and labour mobility practices. These programs help build and support a diverse and inclusive workforce.

The division coordinates the Nova Scotia School for Adult Learning (NSSAL), administers the General Education Development (GED) testing program, supports capacity-building through the Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) funding program and the International Qualification Recognition (IQR) program, and ensures fair registration and labour mobility practices through the administration of the Fair Registration Practices Act (FRPA) and the Canada Free Trade Agreement Implementation Act labour mobility provisions.

**About Our Opportunity**:
As the Program Development Consultant, you support the work of the Curriculum Development Team by facilitating the development and implementation of programs that support the services of the Skills and Learning Branch, including the Nova Scotia School for Adult Learning (NSSAL).

The Program Development Consultant engages in project management; conducts research and analysis to identify program needs, challenges and opportunities; supports program evaluation work; facilitates meetings and presentations; represents Nova Scotia on various provincial working groups that focus on program and curriculum development; provides Nova Scotia’s position on broad issues; connects and collaborates with various stakeholders to understand barriers for adult learners and to explore possible solutions.

As the Program Development Consultant, you will report to the Manager, Curriculum Development.

**Primary Accountabilities**:
The Program Development Consultant responsibilities also include:

- Provide project management support for the ongoing development and implementation of NSSAL’s programming focused on workforce literacy, essential skills for employment and career pathways.
- Manage AED curriculum projects through participation in all stages of the project management cycle (initiation, planning, execution, monitoring, and closure).
- Identify ongoing programming needs, challenges, and opportunities through research, collaboration with government and community partners.
- Conduct ongoing research and engagement with a focus on current trends and principles of adult learning such as micro-credentials, e-learning strategies, and inclusive design principles including UDL (universal design for learning), CRP/T (culturally responsive pedagogy/teaching), Indigenous way of knowing/being, Afri-centric programming, etc. to ensure the incorporation of EDIA (equity, diversity, inclusion and accessibility) in all areas of curriculum.
- Monitor the implementation of mandatory assessment tools across the NSSAL system.
- Participate in ongoing consultations with AECs (Adult Education Coordinators).
- Support NSSAL with program evaluations and make recommendations for improvements.
- Stay abreast of government and NSSAL priorities to ensure strong program alignment.

**Qualifications and Experience**:
This may be the right opportunity for you if you have a bachelor's degree and 5 years of related experience in program development and project management, or an equivalent combination of training and experience may be considered.
