**The Position**

Reporting to the Education Director, the Mem7iman Child Development Center Manager is responsible for planning, organizing, implementing, coordinating, and controlling services of the childcare program, exercising independent judgment and decision-making authority as delegated, including budget, policies, procedures, and staff supervision. Under general supervision, the manager operates the childcare program in conformance with institutional regulations and all-day care licensing provisions. **This is a temporary and full-time position that may become permanent depending on budget and need.**

**_ Financial Responsibilities_**
- Prepare and monitor the annual budget program budget and expend funds according to the Nations and Provincial Licensing guidelines.
- Review all income and expense reports monthly. Develop cost estimates for future program needs.
- Ensure the budgets operate within the budgetary parameters established.
- Provide recommendations and ensure the Education Director is briefed on all matters.

Manage Staff_**
- Collaborate with lead teachers in planning the programs from start to completion.
- Plan, develop, schedule, and/or provide in-service training for ECE staff.
- Develop ways to enhance staff efficiency and programming within the Child Development Centre.
- Address staff concerns and issues and deal with them in a timely manner with the support of HR.
- Ensure all communications documentation books are completed daily and weekly for reporting.
- Facilitate and program planning for the Child Development Centre and staff.
- Regularly scheduled meetings with all staff. Ensure agenda and meeting minutes are completed and delivered prior to the meeting. All meeting minutes should be posted within one (1) business day of the meeting. Delegate and record tasks when appropriate.

Follow Licensing and Regulations_**
- Ensure staff meet the required Federal/provincial regulations and licensing requirements.
- Ensure that the Centre completes monthly fire drills and earthquake drills as per licensing requirements.
- Complete monthly building expectations and share this information with the Occupation Health and Safety Committee and the direct supervisor.
- Ensure you and your staff follow the ECE Code of Conduct and the HR Manual.

**_
Programming_**
- Ensure all staff are adhering to all the Operating Policies.
- Ensure all supplies and equipment are ordered, sufficiently stocked and maintained.
- Ensure all staff members follow the Reggio Philosophy.
- Ensure lead teachers and assistant managers deliver appropriate programs and activities.
- Maintain accurate and confidential records on the children enrolled in the program, including their development, attendance, immunization and any other applicable records.
- Maintain monthly accurate program registration, follow up with parents to site visits and ensure all required paperwork is completed in a timely manner.

Reporting_**
- Ensure all budgetary reporting like Subsidy, ACCESS, and MCFD reports are accurate and completed by the end of each month.
- Report any concerns to MCFD and any other agencies to ensure the safety of children.
- Completing any necessary reporting for the Licensing agent.
- Ensuring all billing and all payments are completed by the end of the month.
- Ensuring attendance records are kept up to date and are being completed daily.
- Reporting any safety concerns or issues to the Occupational Health and Safety Committee and Director.
- Report billing issues or discrepancies to your direct Supervisor and the Finance Department.
- Ensure your direct supervisor is aware of issues regarding employees or children.

Relationships and Communication with Key Stakeholders_**
- Communicate and consult with staff and parents regarding any development, concerns and or changes in their child(s) care.
- Directly supervise and evaluate staff, including Assistant Manager, ECE Teachers, ECE IT Teachers, ECE Assistants and SCD Lead Teacher.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively independently and as a department team member.
- Liaise, network and maintain relationships with external agencies to actively be involved with Community Early Years’ partners, Universities, Colleges or any other First Nations Early Childhood Organizations, Reggio Inspired ECE Childcare Programs and outdoor education programs.
- Attend outside meetings like Community Early Years, etc.
- Perform all other tasks within the scope of the position and as assigned.

**Qualifications, Skills and Abilities**:

- Early Childcare Educator Degree, Diploma or Certificate.
- ECE Valid Teaching License - Registry Office Victoria BC - must be maintained throughout employment. Valid Criminal Record Check clearance to work with children.
- A Business Degree, Diploma or Certificate would be an asset, but not necessary.
- Minimum 4 years of experience as a program Manager or other managerial position.
