**CHIEF OPERATING OFFICER - St. Joseph’s Continuing Care Centre**

**Full-Time Permanent**

**$97,617.00 to $114,874.50 annually**

The Chief Operating Officer (COO) is a member of the St. Joseph’s Health Centre Senior Management Team and is accountable to the President/CEO for the effective and efficient operation of St. Joseph’s Continuing Care Centre, specifically food services, housekeeping, maintenance, laundry, health and safety, and capital planning for all SJCCC sites. The COO, acting within a LEADS framework, works alongside the Chief of Nursing and Allied Health (CoNAH) to ensure that SJCCC operates in a manner that is consistent with the mission, vision and values of the organization, the Performance Standards, the budget, all relevant federal and provincial regulations, and other pertinent standards.

**Additional responsibilities include but are not limited to**:

- Ensuring that the President/CEO and other appropriate parties are aware of all significant developments including fiscal, legal, compliance, quality, risk management and policy matters.
- Participating in the development of the operational and capital budgets and overseeing the management of construction and facility rehabilitation activities in collaboration with the Senior Management team and key team members.
- Representing the Senior Management Team on all operational and patient/family issues and ensuring they are apprised of the course of action taken in response, follow-up correspondence and unresolved issues.
- Ensuring the security, upkeep, and appropriate disposal of the SJCCC’s physical assets.
- Ensuring disaster and emergency preparedness activities are appropriately planned, exercised, and documented.
- Participates on committees and ensures appropriate staff representation on internal and external committees as required.
- Maintains contact with peers in other healthcare facilities to share knowledge.

**Minimum Qualifications (Education/Experience/Knowledge/Memberships)**
- Post-secondary diploma or degree in engineering or other related field,
- Masters of Business Administration (or equivalent program) preferred
- At least five years of working experience in a managerial or supervisory capacity in the health or social services sector with comprehensive knowledge of professional standards, best practice, evidence-informed decision making, legislative requirements, risk management and quality improvement.
- Building management experience

St. Joseph’s Health Centre oversees the operations of St. Joseph’s Villa (a 128-bed long term care home) and St. Joseph’s Continuing Care Centre (a 64-bed continuing care hospital) in Sudbury, and Villa St. Gabriel Villa (a 128-bed long term care home) in Chelmsford. Our Administrative team supports all three facilities and manages clinical, operational and financial services.
