**JOB SUMMARY**:
Under the direction of the Manager of Accounting & Purchasing, the Assistant Supervisor of Purchasing assists in all aspects and
areas of the services provided by the Purchasing Department to the Louis Riel School Division. Responsibilities include research,
pricing, and purchase of furniture, equipment, supplies, and services; preparation of tender specifications; administration of the
tender process; evaluation of submissions and awarding of tenders; coordination of customs clearance for international
shipments; maintenance of records required for grant claims; provision of information to divisional staff regarding purchasing
guidelines; and follow-up on incorrect, late, or short shipments. Additionally, the Assistant Supervisor of Purchasing provides
technical knowledge leadership, training, and assistance to the Purchasing Assistants as needed.
**QUALIFICATIONS (EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE)**:
Education and Training:
- Completion of related Business University Degree or Community College Diploma/Certificate (minimum 2-year program) is
- an asset.- Registered with Supply Chain Canada and working towards Supply Management Training (SMT) certificate.
Experience, knowledge, and skills:
- Minimum three (3) years related experience. Equivalent combination of related experience and education may be
- considered.- Familiarity with purchasing procedures as stated by legislation and Division policy.
- Excellent written and word-processing skills; ability to write formal business correspondence and use Microsoft Word.
- Excellent spreadsheet, database skills (MS Office preferred) and internet research skills.
- Experience with Microsoft Dynamics Navision considered a definite asset.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Demonstrated interpersonal and public relations skills.
- Ability to function effectively and cooperatively as part of a team.
- Excellent verbal and written skills in both official languages (English and French) is considered an asset.
**CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT**:
- Satisfactory Criminal Record Check, including Vulnerable Sector Search.
