Reporting to the Manager of Kitchen Services (Manager), the Food Donation Pick-up Driver (Driver) is responsible for the prompt, safe and efficient pickup of donation orders from private donors and community partners, representing The Ottawa Mission professionally at all times. He/she is expected to operate the delivery vehicle in a safe manner, obeying all rules of the road, and follow all appropriate company policies and procedures. The Driver will have a “What Ever It Takes” attitude with our partners and donors providing them with professional, consistent, reliable, punctual service at all times.

He/she must comply with applicable legislation, including safe operation, carriage of goods and occupational health and safety, and have a clean driving abstract.

**Major Responsibilities**
- Complete regular pick-ups from donating organizations
- Schedule and complete donation pick-ups from private donors
- Assist with pick-up and deliveries for special events related to kitchen services as necessary
- Maintain cleanliness of delivery vans interior, exterior and delivery trolleys
- Refuel van as required using The Ottawa Mission’s gas credit card
- Maintain van usage/mileage logs
- Pick up supplies as requested by Chef or Sous Chef
- Provide support to the Kitchen Services Department as required
- Provide excellent customer service
- Professional representation of The Ottawa Mission through responsible driving and appearance
- Proper handling and accurate completion of all necessary paperwork related to daily responsibilities, including daily logs and inspection logs
- Comply with applicable legislation including safe operation, carriage of goods and occupational health and safety
- Adhere to all organizational policies and procedures
- Adhere to all organizational health and safety requirements
- Other related duties as required and/or assigned by the Manager

**Education**:

- High School Diploma, G.E.D. or equivalent
- Drivers Education Certificate preferred Experience:

- Delivery experience considered an asset

**Qualifications**:

- Valid Driver’s License with a clean driver’s abstract (Must be able to provide a copy of abstract)
- Excellent driving skills
- Good oral and written communication skills
- Ability to multi-task
- Ability to work in a very fast paced environment
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
- Must be a self-starter with a sense of urgency
- Must be able to work with mínimal supervision
- Flexibility in work hours, including early mornings
- Bilingualism (English/French) considered an asset Working Conditions:

- High degree of physical activity involving: walking, standing, sitting, climbing stairs, bending, lifting, driving
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
- Ability to drive in all weather conditions and all traffic conditions
- Ability to maintain alertness while driving
- Must be comfortable working in a challenging environment that has the potential for confrontation and/or exposure to violence
