Health, Safety and Environment Lead

**Location**:UK based, nationwide role with regular travel to sites, on farm and office locations, on average 3 days travelling and 2 days WFH, (Occasional international travel also)

In this role you will be key to owning the strategic focused approach to Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) performance improvement within our Dairy division, a group of brands operating across the UK and internationally offering a range of solutions across animal feed, animal science, consulting and technology. As an HSE leader you will drive activity to ensure legal compliance and accelerate consistent high standards in alignment with central policies. You will have a clear oversight of business unit risk management to ensure the resolution of escalated risks and issues at pace.
Key to the success of this role is the development of a HSE continuous improvement orientated culture, delivered through leadership collaboration with other functions and capability development. The business has several key risk control areas. Including but not limited to: manufacturing (Work at height, WPT, Machinery Safety, COSHH, Fire, Contractor Management), on farm safety, material handling, co-product handling, livestock handling, occupational road risk and lone working.
**What you'll be doing**:
- Input to the management and maintenance of the AB Agri Health & Safety Policy Manual (Policy arrangements), responsible for ensuring the highest levels of regulatory compliance for Health, Safety and Environment, including effective implementation of group wide policies and standards.
- Ensure Health & Safety and Environmental management systems for the Business unit are appropriate, maintained and applied effectively across the business unit (BU) with any issues identified, actions delivered and escalation where needed.
- Monitor compliance, using an internal audit programme and other means and ensuring that any non-conformances are actioned promptly with responsibilities defined.
- Effective support on the implementation of Health & Safety and Environmental Policy arrangements and associated standards
- Maintain appropriate procedures and practices to meet accreditation requirements for ISO 14001, 45001 and 50001 where applicable
- Ensure appropriate arrangements are in place to support the HSE training needs for all across this division
- Validation of capital projects to ensure compliance with Health & Safety and Environmental legislation and business standards for AB Dairy Working with the senior leadership, develop BU wide HSE improvement plans and investment strategy
**What you'll bring**:
- Excellent stakeholder management experience with the ability to build strong working relationships with all levels across the dairy division inc the Senior Leadership team
- Strategic approach with the ability to influence and engage
- Project management skills would be beneficial with previous experience of implementing new policies and procedures
- NEBOSH Diploma in Occupational Health & Safety (or equivalent)
- IEMA Certificate OR Foundation Certificate in Environmental Management (or equivalent).
- Demonstrable experience in the food or agricultural industry
- Experience within a Continuous Improvement role
- A strong understanding of improvement processes, tools and capability building
- Knowledge of Health, Safety and Environmental good practice and control expectations, experience within the agricultural sector would be beneficial
- Flexible and able to manage priorities, resolve problems and escalate issues in a fast-paced environment
