**We are looking for a** **Part Time Cook 1 to work in our Pastry department within our Culinary operation.**
Work in one of the largest culinary teams in Edmonton at the DoubleTree by Hilton West Edmonton serving the Mayfield Dinner Theatre, Stages Kitchen & Bar as well as our extensive Banquet operation.

**Basic Purpose**:
Reporting to the Pastry Sous Chef, the Pastry Cook will work as part of the Pastry team to contribute to customer satisfaction by preparing and serving high quality pastry products in accordance with the standards of DoubleTree by Hilton West Edmonton for Stages Kitchen & Bar, the Mayfield Dinner Theatre and our banquet service.
**Major Responsibilities and Duties (to fulfill major purpose)**:
- Meets and exceeds customer and team member expectations by providing superior service and teamwork
- Preparing a wide variety of goods such as cakes, cookies, pies, bread etc. following traditional and modern recipes
- **Creating new and exciting desserts to renew our menus and engage the interest of customers**:
- Decorating pastries using different icings, toppings etc. to ensure the presentation will be beautiful and exciting
- Monitor stocks for baking ingredients such as flour, sugar etc. and make appropriate orders within budget
- Performs other duties as required to provide superior service and teamwork
- Works out on floor for special events; carving meats for customers, working pasta and omelet stations
- Maintains cleanliness and stocking of coolers and storage areas
- Prepares food with necessary approvals according to policy
- Takes proper care of ranges, ovens, broilers, fryers, griddles and other equipment and utensils
- Adheres to hotel policies and procedures
- Attends work on time as scheduled
- Follows hotel grooming and dress standards
- Keeps immediate supervisor promptly and fully informed of all problems and unusual matters of significance
- Performs all duties and responsibilities in a timely and efficient manner in accordance with established company policies and procedures to achieve the overall objectives of this position
- Maintains a favorable working relationship with all other company employees to foster and promote a cooperative and harmonious working climate
- At all times projects a favorable image of SILVERBIRCH HOTELS & RESORTS Hospitality to the public
Skills, Knowledge and Abilities Required:
Your skill in baking high quality treats should be matched by your creativity to develop new amazing tastes and recipes.
- Energetic and flexible; able to work under pressure
- Self motivated, creative, capable of working in a team environment
- Demonstrate positive leadership potential
- Must be able to work mornings and weekends
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Excellent guest, customer and employee relations skills
- Must have reliable transportation due to early morning shifts
**Working Conditions**:
- Standing, moving, bending.
- Early mornings, weekends and holiday hours as required.
- Move, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects weighing less than or equal to 25 pounds without assistance
- Reach overhead and below the knees, including bending, twisting, pulling, standing, sitting, or walking for an extended period of time
**Experience, Training and Education (demonstrating requirements)**
- Proven experience as Pastry Cook, baker or relevant role
- Great attention to detail and creativity
- Organizational and time management skills
- Willingness to replenish professional knowledge
- In depth knowledge of sanitation principles, food preparation and baking techniques and nutrition
- Working knowledge of baking with ingredient limitations (pastries that are gluten free, sugarless etc.)
- Certificate in culinary arts, pastry-making, baking or relevant field
- Minimum 2-3 years’ experience
- Food Safe Certificate credentials required
