**Housing Outreach Worker** -** **Housing Services, Scarborough** (Full-Time Permanent)**:
**The Role and Opportunity**:
The Canadian Mental Health Association is looking for a **Housing Outreach Worker** to join our Housing Services Program. This position will be part of a team of Housing Outreach Workers and Residential Workers providing community-based housing services to individuals who suffer from severe mental illness and are living independently in the community.

**Salary**:$54,124 - $62,733

**Location**: Scarborough, ON

**Hours**: 35 per week

**Responsibilities**
- Assessment of housing and support needs of people referred to CMHA/Toronto Housing Services
- Assistance and liaison with other services needed to secure housing
- Linkage to support services as needed
- Periodic unit inspection to ensure health and safety conditions are being kept
- Acting as an agent on behalf of the landlord.
- Responding to crisis calls placed by building staff
- Maintaining ongoing partnerships with various property management organizations
- Keeping accurate, up to date information on their case load available on a database

**Skills You Bring**
- Post Secondary Degree/Diploma in Social Services or an equivalent
- Experience providing community based direct service to adults with mental illness
- Knowledge of the Residential Tenancy Act and supportive housing
- Knowledge of the criminal justice system, concurrent disorders and issues affecting the homeless
- Knowledge of the Ontario Support Disability Program and Ontario Works
- Familiarity with homeless outreach initiatives and the shelter system
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work effectively in a team as well as independently
- Strong organizational skills
- Ability to foster and maintain relationships with the corporate sector and community agencies
- Ability to communicate in a second language is an asset
- Excellent interpersonal and conflict resolution skills
- Experience working with diverse communities
- ** Required to have a valid Ontario Driver’s License, access to a vehicle and insurance coverage.**
