Retail Store Assistant Manager

**Company description**
Core areas of management for this role include but are not limited to:
- **Floor Service & Daily Operations**: Maintaining a high level of operational knowledge and service capabilities across each category and/or department at Jacobsons, as well as the proficient operation of our internal systems.
- **Staff Supervision & Brand Standards**: Providing leadership and coaching to associates, ensuring Jacobsons’ operational and brand standards are well understood and executed by staff daily.
- **Productivity & Floor Service Coordination**: Support GM and lead daily floor service & staff co-ordination to ensure optimal productivity and service levels are achieved.
- **Inventory Control & Merchandising**: Responsible for maintaining inventory control systems, merchandising plans and floor standards.
- **Business Administration**: Supporting and leading where required on business administration activities that contribute to efficient store operations, health & safety, staff coordination and expense control.
- **Department Coordination**: Grocery department coordination and overall maintenance.
Floor Service & Operations:
- Responsible for working with department coordinators and acquiring full operational knowledge of how to execute service in across any department within the shop
- Stepping in where needed on a daily basis to assist in operating departments, serving guests or managing shop procedures (ex. receiving)
- Responsible for maintaining a high level of working knowledge of our POS system, credit card processing system, ERP system, scheduling app, online sales platform and internal processes for floor service and operations
Staff Supervision & Brand Standards:
- Ensure staff are complying with company standards such as uniform requirements, customer service protocol, clock in and out procedures and health & safety policies
- Ensure staff are complying with company brand standards and achieving consistent, exemplary service daily
- Assist the GM in communicating with staff on relevant changes regarding policies, procedures, product knowledge, operational requirements, and brand standards
Productivity & Floor Service Coordination:
- Assist the GM in ensuring the successful completion of daily operational floor tasks, in accordance with brand standards and best store practices
- Lead the organization and delegation of daily responsibilities with staff, checking in with department coordinators to ensure optimal productivity during working hours
- Responsible for coordinating with merchandisers to ensure that merchandising plans are effectively implemented and maintained on a regular basis
Business Administration:
- Responsible for understanding and maintaining health & safety standards across the store and our employees
- Responsible for maintaining employee sick days, shift changes and vacation times for reporting to payroll
- Responsible for informing and where required completing bi-weekly scheduling
Department Coordination:
- Responsible for working closely with floor staff and department coordinators to ensure all areas of the store are working together efficiently and collaboratively
- Responsible for coordination of the grocery and hardgoods including purchasing, receiving support, merchandising directives and inventory control - this currently includes peripheral ambient products outside of our primarily sister company, as well as all frozen foods
**Qualifications**
- 2-3 years experience in training and managing a team.
- Strong leadership and people management skills.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Decision-making and problem-solving skills.
- Able to work a flexible schedule.
- Strong math and computer skills.
- ERP system experience is an asset.
- Attention to detail.
- Grocery or food experience preferred.
