**Location**: Toronto
**Flexibility Profile**: Hybrid
**Salary Range**: 5 - $49,081 to $59,692
**Position Status**: Temporary - Full-time, 6 months, 37.5 hours per week
**Division**: Commissioner's Office
**Department**: National Film Board of Canada

**COORDINATOR, INDIGENOUS RELATIONS AND COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT**:
**Are you passionate about great storytelling, about exploring issues that matter, about pushing the boundaries in new audiovisual experiences?**

**Would you like to be a key player in helping the National Film Board redefine its relationship with Indigenous Peoples?**

As Canada’s public producer and distributor of documentary, animation and interactive/immersive experiences that reflect Canada and Canadian perspectives to Canadian and global audiences, the NFB has been producing works by First Nations, Métis and Inuit directors since 1968—a total of more than 280 titles by Indigenous filmmakers. This enduring commitment to working with Indigenous storytellers and making these films broadly accessible to Canadian audiences, as well as the relationships built with Indigenous filmmakers, communities and partners over the course of 53 years, form the foundation for the NFB’s Indigenous Action Plan.

Under the leadership of J’net Ayayqwayaksheelth, the NFB’s inaugural Director of Indigenous Relations and Community Engagement, the NFB is becoming a more culturally safe workplace, with a new monthly Indigenous Support Circle, mental health support, an Indigenous caucus to provide a safe space for Indigenous employees and collaborators, continuous professional learning in Indigenous cultural competency for all staff, and more inclusive human resources practices, to name a few.

We are creating a team that truly reflects the richness and diversity of Canada. If you’d like to be a part of this team—and part of the NFB’s incredible legacy—we’d love to hear from you.

**YOUR OPPORTUNITY**
- A unique opportunity to take on the role of Coordinator, Indigenous Relations and Community Engagement, a full-time temporary position (expected term: October 2, 2023, to March 29, 2024, with possibility of extension) working closely with the Director, Indigenous Relations and Community Engagement.

- Co-host the NFB’s monthly online Indigenous Support Circle engagement with Indigenous staff and collaborators.
- Participate in planning, developing and coordinating Indigenous Professional Learning Sessions aimed at advancing reconciliation and decolonization as well as Indigenizing practices.
- Take part in hybrid-NFB outreach activities to inform the public about the NFB’s collection, programs and employment opportunities.
- Draft internal communications and support the preparation of community engagement messages.
- Provide support and participate in consultations with staff and community organizations.
- Working with Human Resources, participate in the development of a plan to create a pipeline of Indigenous talent, and to support career development of Indigenous staff.
- Support the development of protocols (e.g., cleansing) and other measures to support cultural safety and wellness.
- Provide support in grant writing and garnering community support letters;
- Work collaboratively with other staff at the NFB and perform other relevant duties.
- Join a world-class, coast-to-coast-to-coast team whose work is awarded at the Oscars, Webbys, CSAs, etc., and showcased at premiere international festivals, including TIFF, Sundance, imagineNATIVE, Tribeca, Hot Docs, VIFF, IDFA, Berlin, Annecy and Cannes.
- Enjoy a hybrid work arrangement, both teleworking and working from our accessible downtown Toronto office.
- Earn an annual salary in the range of $49,081 to $59,692 and enjoy an array of employee benefits: access to the employee assistance program, paid leaves, free access to continued learning opportunities through the Canada School of Public Service, and much more.
