**The Opportunity**
Reporting directly to the Manager of Business Attraction & Investment, this role will support the programs, events and strategic objectives of the division. The intern position will be responsible for undertaking research and analysis, supporting division communications, and providing event and program assistance to advance Economic Development and Corporate Strategy goals. As the Student, Economic Development, you will perform the following duties, including but not limited to:
- Support the Business Attraction & Investment division with research and analysis for key strategic priorities, including investment-readiness, sector development, and business support services and programs.
- Support the launch of business and entrepreneurship support services at the Humber River Centre by undertaking environmental scans and recommending metrics for performance benchmarking and reporting.
- Work with division staff and the Corporate Communications team to assist with regular outbound communications, including promotional campaigns for business support services and programs, and content creation for economic reporting, the Caledon Business website and e-newsletter.
- Research and recommend strategic tactics to enhance communications and promote Caledon as a destination for new investment, including the use of new communications channels and data visualization tools for lead servicing.
- Provide on-site support at business openings, corporate calls, and division events, as needed.
- Maintain responsibility for assigned duties within the division work plan
- Participate in all mandatory training requirements
Be responsible to work in compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations, the Town of Caledon Policies and Procedures, as well as established industry guidelines.
We are seeking a current post-secondary student enrolled in Public Administration, Business Administration, Marketing, Urban Planning or Innovation, Economic Development or a related field. Educational background or experience in Economic Development will be considered an asset. This student must be returning to school in Fall of 2024.
This position offers an hourly range of $17.92 - $23.10.
