**The opportunity**:
The Student Advisor, working with the other Student Advisors, is responsible for advising and overseeing the admission and registration of students enrolled in any of the College of Nursing Programs, including undergraduate and graduate programs. They answer all enquiries received pertaining to admission requirements, forwarding related information and directing individuals to the correct personnel as required. They are the point of contact for prospective students and have complete knowledge of the regulations and polices concerning all the programs offered. The Student Advisor works collaboratively with the Student Services Team, faculty and other University departments that are involved with student admissions and registrations.

**The qualifications and experience we’re looking for**:

- University Bachelor's degree in a health-related discipline required.
- A minimum of two years' student advising, and related administration experience is required.
- Knowledge and experience in interpreting and advising students on policies and procedures that pertain to students is required.
- Must have experience dealing with student problems.
- Must have knowledge of the policies regarding Nursing's program requirements and admission/reinstatement.
- Experience with student registration and scheduling preferred.
- Experience with SSASECT (Banner Specific Scheduling), is a valued asset.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills required.
- Must be proficient in use of microcomputers, printers, applicable software, (e.g., Microsoft suite of programs).
- Proven time management, task prioritization, decision-making and problem-solving skills required.
- Extensive experience with student records and registration system is required.
- Strong interpersonal skills required.
- Demonstrated ability to plan, organize, coordinate, and establish work priorities and deadlines is required.
- Ability to process large numbers of documents with speed, accuracy, and attention to detail in order to meet strict deadlines required.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with all levels of internal and external staff and contacts required.
- Ability to work independently, make sound judgement required.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality, exercise diplomacy, and tact is required.
- Satisfactory work record, including satisfactory attendance and punctuality, is required.
