**Job Description Summary**: The Canada Controller role is primarily responsible for external and statutory reporting, commercial accounting, and tax processes for the Canada Legal Entities within the US & Canada (USCAN) region of GE HealthCare (“GEHC”). In addition, this role will oversee certain commercial accounting areas for the entire USCAN region.

**Roles and Responsibilities**:
- Manage the close process for the GEHC legal entities in Canada, including all close activities, manual journal entries, account reconciliations, and the preparation and presentation of the quarterly financials and accompanying analytics to senior management.
- Lead an accounting/controllership team of 4-5 people
- Lead the completion of the annual statutory and income tax schedules, monthly indirect tax filings and the annual legal entity financial statements.
- Oversee accounting related to pension plans, pension administration and EHS reserve processes.
- Collaborate with commercial, legal, and related functional teams providing transaction/deal structure guidance ensuring the financial, accounting and compliance implications are understood.
- Ensure controls over contracting processes exist, allowing for the timely and effective identification, monitoring, and accounting for non-standard contracts.
- Assist with training to ensure compliance with global and regional revenue recognition policies (i.e., ASC 606 and ASC 842).
- Ensure adequate controls and compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley 404 requirements specific to revenue recognition and other related commercial transactions.
- Drive consistent and effective policies and procedures for quarterly close processes including account reconciliations, supplemental Data Requests (DR) submissions, representation letters, and adjusting entries.
- Lead selected simplification initiatives within the commercial controllership team and drive consistency within commercial controllership processes and controls.
- Support the implementation of new GEHC policies and processes in Canada.
In addition to activities related to the Canada Legal Entities described above, this role will support certain activities for the overall USCAN region and global commercial team:
- Lead accounting and controllership compliance on concessions and returned material processes.
- Partner with various members of the USCAN Finance & Controllership team and Global GEHC team to simplify closing and reporting processes.
- Contribute to the quarterly Financial Reporting Package for USCAN region, including the quarterly Balance Sheet reviews, by collaborating with various stakeholders to provide quality analytics supporting select balances and associated movements.
**Qualifications**:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance
- At least 8 years of progressive experience in accounting or finance
- Demonstrated proficiency of U.S. and Canadian GAAP, month-/quarter-end reporting processes.
- Experience in research of accounting and reporting issues, including interpreting U.S. GAAP and SEC Reporting Rules.
- Strong analytical skills, including experience with creation, review and presentation of balance sheet review packages or other similar financial review packages.
- You must be legally authorized to work in Canada.
- You must be willing to work out of our office located in Mississauga, ON
**Desired Characteristics**:
- Certified Public Accountant or Chartered Accountant
- Demonstrated ability working in cross functional teams or in matrixed organization with sound understanding of global process and transactional flows.
