**GFL Environmental **is looking for **a Loader Operator** to join our team in **Winnipeg, MB**

**Shift hour**s**:9:00 am to 6:00 pm***

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Maintain Front End Loader this includes the circle check as outlined in the operations manual prior to commencing work
- Required to grease the machine at the beginning of each shift.
- Check all fluid levels before shift.
- Blow out radiators.
- Change or blow out filters as necessary.
- Control the quality of recyclables being loaded in the drum feeder, to ensure that all large sized non recyclables be removed from the material prior to being loaded on the metering conveyor.
- Must ensure that a proper mix of material is loaded into the drum feeder thus maintaining a proper infeed balance of all materials on the floor. There is a load line on drum feeder to keep material flowing on the conveyor line to the sort rooms.
- Must ensure that material loaded into the bin will not jam in the drum feeder. (i.e. too much film, large debris, wire, etc).
- Ensure that the Tip Floor area is kept clean and in an orderly condition at all times. This includes the outside material receiving tip floor door area.
- Ensure the metering bin, specifically the drum, is kept clean from all debris and material on a daily basis. If this requires entering the bin, must follow the safety procedure as outlined in the GFL Environmental Inc. Safety Manual reference policy restricted space and lock out procedure.
- Be sure to take all proper precaution while driving the loader as each operator will be held accountable for all or any damage that may occur while in operation.
- Should any warning lights/messages appear on the console, report findings immediately to Supervisor.When driving to areas other than tip floor ensure to communicate with those respective floor operators. Report any signs of leaks or low fluid levels.
- Loader Operator maybe required to load: glass material into trailers, scrap steel into 30-yard dump bins
- Prepare samples for audit purposes.
- Other duties may be assigned with operational changes

**Requirements**:
**Safety**: Wear all mandatory personal protective equipment as assigned. This includes the following **but is not limited to**:

- CSA approved Safety Boots (6” boot minimum)
- Hearing Protection
- Dust Masks (when required)
- High Visibility Clothing (long sleeve t-shirt (safety orange or safety yellow), vests)
- Gloves (cut 5 puncture 5)
- Safety Glasses (full including side shields, goggles or glasses that go over existing glass, removable side shields)
- CSA approved Hard Hats

Follow all safety procedures as outlined by the Occupational Health and Safety Act, Applicable Industrial Regulations, Federal, Provincial, Municipal regulations and Canada Fibers Ltd Health and Safety policies and procedures.

Report all accident, incidents, near misses and hazards to supervision immediately.

**Employee Relations**:

- Communicate with Senior Management, administrative, supervisory and plant staff as required.
- Provide and/or participate in training as required.
- Comply with company rules, federal and provincial regulations as well policies as stated in the Employee Manual.

**Job Specific Hazards**:

- Temperature - dress according to the weather as there is no climate control at work station.
- Noise - Hearing protection will be provided to you and must be worn at all times. Decibel readings posted in each work area.
- Dusty environment - dust masks must be worn properly at all times
- Ergonomic issues - strains could result from work station design. Speak to your supervisor with regards to “stands” to use while working and discuss any discomforts you may experience.
- Repetitive motion injuries could occur. Stretching prior to your shift start can help to prevent these types of injuries.
- Conveyor belts could cause “pinch hazards”. Machine guards have been installed to protect workers. If you notice a loose/missing machine guard, notify your supervisor immediately
- Eye injuries could occur due to various items on the sort line ie.glass. Safety glasses must be worn at all times.
- Forklifts/Merlo are a hazard when traveling throughout the plant. Be aware of your surroundings and always wear high visibility clothing.
- Trip hazards are present in your work station and throughout the plant. Be sure to keep your work station clean and neat at all times and do not use non-approved “stands”. Do no pile material/carpets on the floor to stand on; instead, speak to your supervisor.
