Tap into a 94-year tradition of learning, adventure and fun. For girls and gender diverse children and youth 6-15 years of age, YWCA’s Camp Tapawingo can turn a summer experience into a summer of unique memories. The relaxed atmosphere of a child and youth-focused setting creates the perfect environment for embarking on a camper’s journey to self-discovery, confidence and achievement.

YWCA’s Camp Tapawingo is currently recruiting applicants, ages 17 years old or older, for various positions. All staff lives at the camp on Georgian Bay near Parry Sound and work directly with children and youth in the following areas: swimming, canoeing, arts and crafts, climbing, dance & drama, fitness sailing, nature activities, land sports, tripping, kayaking, guitar and mountain biking.
**KEY RESPONSIBILITIES**:
- Develops, implements and evaluates camp activities including scheduling of staff and teaching schedules;
- Assist the planning and implementation of the summer pre-camp training week;
- Co-ordinates program schedules, arrivals and departures with Activity Heads as required;
- Collaborates with the Manager on the running of programs for New Campers Night;
- Works in collaboration with the manager to develop and implement programming for outside groups;
- Liaises with groups and organizations related to programs on site;
- Assists with the provision of food service including grocery shopping, serving and cooking, delivery of program, set-ups and clean ups for Outdoor Centre groups as needed;
- Assists the Manager in the supervision of Outdoor Centre staff in the delivery of program, physical preparation and clean up for groups;
- Assists with the maintenance and clean-up of camp prior to the summer;
- Monitors staff use of hand tools, maintenance techniques, and safety equipment to work safely;
- Ensures that all tasks are performed within WHMIS, WSIB and YWCA Health and Safety Guidelines;
- Assists the Manager to meet the overall goals and objectives of the program.
**QUALIFICATIONS**
- 3-5 years directly related work experience (Cases for Equivalency will be considered);
- Current Bronze Cross or NL preferred;
- Current Red Cross Standard First Aid Certificate plus CPR Certification;
- Ability to take and pass Pleasure Boats Operators card, WHMIS certificate, Province of Ontario Health and Safety Supervisors training;
- Experience in a residential children's camp or children’s program;
- Experience in a broad range of summer camp activities;
- Demonstrated experience in working with children 6-15 years old;
- Strong interpersonal skills;
- Must have a valid Ontario drivers license.
