Worship Minister

**Job Summary**:
The Worship Minister shall minister to the spiritual needs of Grant Memorial Baptist Church (GMBC) through leading and planning worship services and celebrations that are honouring to God, consistent with biblical principles of worship, and demonstrate the values and advance objectives of GMBC. The Worship Minister will have a passion to lead stylistically diverse worship environments including traditional and contemporary formats to engage the congregation in authentic worship. The Worship Minister will have the proven ability to recruit, equip and empower volunteers to serve in all aspects of the worship ministry.

**Time Requirements**:
37.5 hours per week, 1.0 FTE.

In addition to regular office hours, Sunday is considered a work day, as are various evening practices and meetings as required.

**Responsibilities (Time Allocation)**
- Lead Worship Services
- Serve as the primary worship leader, ministering to the congregation through leading singing, prayer, scripture reading
- Lead and oversee the rehearsals for worship services and celebrations
- Be available on occasion to preach and lead communion as directed by the Teaching Pastor (depending on gifting)
- Worship Service Planning
- Plan the orders of service, select songs, scripture readings and other worship elements suited to meeting the spiritual objectives of the service as set by the Teaching Pastor
- Plan celebration events such as the Christmas and Easter celebrations which proclaim the gospel and reach out to the community o Oversee details of implementing the ordinances within the service (ex. Baptism, Communion, etc.)
- Ensure that music teams are scheduled and prepared for worship services and rehearsals
- Preparing music and organizing materials for services
- Personal Development
- Includes personal study of scripture, theology and prayer
- Training and development of skills in the worship arts
- Attending weekly staff devotional and prayer meetings
- Spiritual Care of Worship Ministry Volunteers
- Provide pastoral care to volunteers and lay leaders in the worship ministry
- Counselling and prayer support of worship ministry team members in times of crisis or transition
- Mentoring/Training Lay Leaders
- Teach worship ministry leaders principles of biblical worship
- Coach lay leaders as they develop their skills in various worship arts
- Administrative Duties
- Attend and contribute to ministry staff meetings, congregational meetings
- Plan and oversee the Worship Ministry budget
- Create annual Worship Ministry department report and annual Worship Ministry plan

**Qualifications**:

- Possess a vision for worship and the ability to articulate and champion that vision
- Be familiar with and supportive of various worship styles, and be acquainted with a wide body of music and worship resources
- Proven excellence in people skills and a strong communicator
- Demonstrated ability to recruit, motivate, train, and manage volunteers
- Ability to write and speak effectively to staff, volunteers, constituents and the public
- Proficient in the use of current technologies and communication tools
- Musically gifted and trained with a knowledge of music theory, instruments and a variety of music styles
- Committed to team ministry, able to participate in the setting of the vision and execution of the mission of the church

- Committed, growing, mature follower of Christ
- Qualified for church membership and willing to become a member of GMBC
- Supportive of the vision and leadership of the church
- A completed Criminal Record check including the vulnerable sector search
- Degree in theology or music is an asset
