We are looking for an intern to assist us in our Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) initiatives

Reporting to the Vice President of Corporate Communications, as the Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) Intern, you will participate in advancing our environmental, social and governance (ESG) strategy, oversight, capabilities, practices, and data gathering. Your primary responsibilities for the summer will be to assist in building a strong and thorough framework to facilitate the compilation of cross-functional sustainability and ESG information and data, based on the Company’s ESG strategy and three-year road map.

You will succeed in this position if you are motivated, creative, collaborative, and willing to try new approaches to achieve results and establish positive working relationships. If you are not afraid to get out of your comfort zone, whether it is taking on new tasks or actively participating and collaborating in our meetings, this position is for you. If you have been steadily deepening your knowledge in your field of study and want to work with a company that has an environment where your knowledge and skills can be developed, we can’t wait to meet with you

Main responsibilities
- Work on building data-gathering processes and propose efficient tools for ESG data collection
- Update project status, engage across workstreams, and create project plans to facilitate and track progress
- Conduct research and analysis on ESG topics relevant to Fairstone’s business
- Assist in monitoring ESG best practices
- Conducting research to help benchmark and provide a landscape view of industry trends and organizations’ initiatives, offerings, and results
- Identifying opportunities to leverage data for insightful reporting and analysis
- Prepare ESG Working Group minutes and project tracking sheets
- Contribute to Fairstone’s ESG Report
- Perform all kinds of related tasks to support the team

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

In addition to your collaborative mindset and positive attitude, you need to be currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate Business, Engineering or Sustainability program.

The following will also be key to your success with us:

- experience in designing or implementing ESG programs and an understanding of financial markets
- prior internship or work experience relating to ESG, especially in ESG reporting
- knowledge of ESG reporting frameworks: UN Sustainable Development Goals, SASB, TCFD, etc.
- being organized, independent, resourceful problem-solver, reliable team player, a nimble learner, and demonstrating high attention to detail and follow-through to project completion
- being driven to continuously learn from experiences and seek out feedback and development opportunities
- strategic mindset (able to see the big picture)
- advanced proficiency in Microsoft office suite, especially Excel, is essential;
- strong teamwork skills and the ability to build good working relationships;
- fluency in written and spoken French and English.
