**OVERVIEW**:
Reporting to the Sacred Care Case Manager, the _Sacred Care Shkabeh _will be responsible for providing direct in-home support services. The _Sacred Care Shkabeh _will work within a team that provides comprehensive case management services and supports a holistic circle of care.
Shawenim Abinoojii is dedicated to the sacred duty of loving, protecting, and nurturing First Nation children and their families. The Sacred Care _Shkabeh _will support youth according to the seven sacred teachings. Shawenim Abinoojii supports nurturing homes that honor the cultural identity, community connection and individual needs of youth.
**KEY RESPONSIBILITES**:
- Supports youth in the development of their daily living skills, based on their needs and goals.
- Collaborate with community resources focused on wellness services and support, which may include cultural teachings, mental health and addictions supports, and other services.
- Liaise with the SAI Wellness Unit to facilitate access to services and programming based on the First Nations identity of our people.
- Fostering a safe and supportive environment that empowers youth to explore and respond to their emotional and psychological needs.
- Complete and submit required service documentation, including daily logs and incident reports.
- Utilize a relationship-based approach to deescalating and responding to emergencies as they arise.
- Maintain timely and effective communication with the holistic circle of care to support the care of youth.
- Other duties as assigned.
**QUALIFICATIONS**:
- Minimum of two years related experience in the helping field.
- Strong understanding of approaches to supporting life skills development.
- Knowledge of community-based resources.
- Knowledge in the areas of Addictions, Attachment, Mental Health & Trauma and how it impacts young people.
- Knowledge of the Child and Family Services (CFS) sector & foster care legislation.
- Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of First Nations experiences, culture and philosophies.
- Demonstrated skills and competence to establish supportive relationships.
- Knowledge of assessment and crisis intervention.
- Ability to work flexible schedule in order to accommodate the needs of the youth.
- Satisfactory Child Abuse, Adult Abuse, Vulnerable Person Check and Criminal Record Check.
- Excellent communication, organization, problem solving, and team skills.
- Ability to speak Anishinaabe preferred.
