The Dental Assistant will assist in the delivery of the Ontario Seniors Dental Care Program (OSDSP) and Healthy Smiles Ontario Program (HSO) including oral health screening in schools.
- Provide chairside duties by assisting the dentist and/or dental hygienist;
- Complete instrument reprocessing and sterilization;
- Perform data collection and entry;
- Assist clients in completion of required documentation;
- Answer dental health inquiries from a wide variety of sources;
- Ensure clinic is sufficiently stocked/supplied at all times;
- Take digital radiographs;
- Provide preventive oral health education;
- Attend team meetings, staff calibration, and Ontario Association of Public Health Dentistry (OAPHD) activities;
- Some lifting may be required;
- Assist in other assigned duties.
**Hours of Work**:
Four (4) days/ week within Monday to Friday 8:30am to 4:30pm.
This position requires 100% onsite presence.
Extended hours may occasionally be required based on agency needs.

**Requirements**:
- Successful completion of a Certified Dental Assistant Level II diploma or certificate program from a recognized accredited educational institute;
- Member in good standing with the Ontario Dental Assistants Association (ODAA);
- Minimum of 2 years of full-time clinical years’ experience as a Certified Dental Assistant Level II;
- Strong chairside experience working with seniors, children and vulnerable populations in treatment and preventive clinical settings;
- Must be skilled in four-handed dentistry;
- Current CPR and First Aid Certification;
- Proficient in taking digital radiographs (HARP certified);
- Strong knowledge and adherence to IPAC/PIDAC measures - Public Health Ontario Instrument Reprocessing Certificate is an asset;
- Proven ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team setting;
- Experience with dental software programs (e.g., ABELDent);
- Strong interpersonal and organizational skills and the ability to prioritize tasks to perform independently and effectively;
- Self-motivated and adaptable to changing program needs;
- Proficiency utilizing Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint);
- Excellent communication and time management skills;
- Valid Ontario Driver’s License and access to reliable transportation (travel within the Wellington-Dufferin-Guelph geographic area is required);
- Attention to detail;
- Ability to lift
