**Work Arrangement**:The** **Director, Communications is primarily based out of Vancouver, BC corporate office working a hybrid work arrangement. Occasional work-from-home flexibility and moderate travel will be required.
**Position Overview**:
The Director, Communications** **will be responsible for building Flair’s internal and external communications strategies, utilizing paid, earned, social, and owned channels.
The Director, Communications will be responsible for all communications activities as it relates to public relations, marketing, corporate communications, thought leadership, and media relations.
This role will act as an ambassador and work collaboratively with various stakeholders and team members to generate superior brand awareness and build trust and will be accountable for the following duties:
- Responsible for strategizing and managing long and short-term communications strategies including evaluating existing practices, identifying new opportunities, executing, and measuring impact, with a specific tactical plan.
- Develop narrative guides and key messages that can be refined for specific campaigns/activations and to aid executive leaders within the organization
- Develop and manage relationships with a wide range of external and internal stakeholders
- Establish and build meaningful relationships with media, managing proactive and reactive media relations
- Coach and media train Flair team members in preparation for media opportunities
- Lead proactive public relations plans that promote brand awareness, drive engagement and consumer behavior, supporting marketing activations and brand partnerships
- Lead corporate communications strategies to support thought leadership and corporate announcements, to build profile with key stakeholders.
- Identify and address highly sensitive media and communications issues, with reputation protection top of mind
- Manage external agency partners in support of long and short-term communications strategies guiding alignment across partners
- Build, expand and manage Flair’s in-house communications team to grow internal capabilities
**Qualifications & Requirements**:
- **
Education**:
- Degree in public relations, marketing or communications.
- **
Experience**:
- At least eight (8) years of experience in communications, with relevant experience in public and media relations, corporate communications, and/or internal communications
- Experience managing and coaching a team to foster growth, with a preference for experience in a start-up or rapidly growing environments
- Strategist with an exceptional understanding of communications channels and tools to build dynamic campaigns
- A demonstrated leader who can quickly build trust as an advisor to senior leaders
- Experience managing agencies, with direct experience within an agency an additional benefit.

Skills and Abilities**:
- Exceptional writer with expertise in creative storytelling. A passion for writing effective and inspiring communication and attention to detail
- Perfect spoken and written English and demonstrated care for grammar, spelling, and writing mechanics. (French fluency is an asset, but not a requirement)
- Ability to work collaboratively with a team as well as be self-sufficient
- The ability to create and inspire a vision, and to lead a team toward it.
