In this role, you will have accountability for the delivery of high quality, accessible, sustainable, patient and family-focused care for the Wetaskiwin Hospital and Care Centre. As part of the Central Zone Acute Care leadership team, you will support and advance quality improvement, patient care, and staff engagement through strong working relationships, and in collaboration with colleagues, staff, community agencies, and regional services. Your role includes responsibility for recruitment and performance management of human resources in a unionized environment. Reporting to the Director, Rural Acute Care and in partnership with the other local managers, you will provide leadership through demonstrated consistency of practice, competence as a leader, as well as commitment to the team, and to the overall purpose and vision of the portfolio, and the organization.

Description:
The Acute Manager is responsible to provide management and leadership for the clinical operations of Unit 33 and Unit 35 inpatient units at Wetaskiwin Hospital and Care Centre. In addition, this position will have responsibility to inform and support the implementation of local, zonal, and/or provincial initiatives within an identified program area. Key areas of responsibility include: coordinating staffing, clinical education for staffing, workplace health and safety, disaster management and planning, recruitment, retention and appraisal of staffing, as well as collaborating with managers from all departments and maintaining positive relationships with key local health care stakeholders. The manager is accountable to ensure the effective deployment of human resources (scheduling, rotations, skill mix etc.), and create a safe, healthy and inclusive workplace where employees and physicians can reach their full potential. Additionally, the manager will ensure the appropriate allocation of fiscal and capital resources across the area of accountability, and manage and report on the operating budget, including budget forecasting and expenditure monitoring in accordance with established AHS policies and practices. It is expected that the manager will foster a culture of continuous quality improvement to ensure the ongoing evolution of high-quality healthcare through, for example: just in time learning, coaching, mentoring, orientation, and ongoing staff training and development.

**Required Qualifications**:
A post-secondary degree in a health profession, health administration, leadership or other comparable degree. Registration with an Alberta Regulated Health Profession, as appropriate. A demonstrated clear pattern of professional development (e.g. continuing education courses).
