Accounting Coordinator

We are currently seeking an Accounting Coordinator to join our team. We want a team player who has a desire to make a difference and takes pride in their work.

**The role and responsibilities**:
**Accounts Payable**
- Matching, price checking and processing of vendor invoices
- Reconciliation of vendor statements with company payable records and investigate discrepancies
- Prepare expense reports
- Preparation of monthly cheque runs, and EFT payments as well as holdback releases
- Serve as the main contact person for correspondence with vendors

**Accounts Receivable**
- Generate and record sale invoices with proper supporting documents in a timely manner
- Verify and record customer payments related to account and holdback receivables
- Correct billing discrepancies by preparing and issuing debit and credit memos
- Prepare and coordinate the completion of various compliance certificates
- Post adjusting and closing journal entries
- Work closely with the office administrator to maintain organized and up-to-date records of invoices, payments, expenses and project files
- Work closely with the office administrator to ensure transactions are entered accurately and within the appropriate cut off period
- Assist with month-end and year-end processes including account reconciliations and preparation of financial reports and working papers

**Payroll**
- Serve as back up payroll processor

**Office and Administration**
- Main point of contact for incoming calls and visitors
- Travel arrangement for out-of-town projects
- Vehicle plate renewals
- Assist with general office duties

**Required Qualifications**:

- 2+ years of accounting experience in a high-volume AP environment is preferred
- Experience in the construction industry, including construction billings, percentage of completion accounting and holdbacks is an asset
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
- Good organizational skills along with good written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent interpersonal, problem solving, and multitasking skills
- Ability to meet deadlines through effective time management and planning
- Experience with Sage50 accounting software is an asset

Intermediate knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite with a focus on excel.
