**Coordinator, Laboratory Information Systems**

The Laboratory Information Systems (LIS) Coordinator is responsible for coordinating, implementing and maintaining assigned areas of the lab information systems across the Fraser Health. Collaborates with other LIS Coordinators in the Fraser Health, Fraser Health Information Management teams, vendors and laboratory staff, and in performing this role, is required to work at various sites throughout the Fraser Health as required.

**What you’ll do**
- Coordinates, implements and maintains assigned areas of the lab information systems across the Fraser Health; continually collaborates with other LIS Coordinators, Fraser Health Information Management teams, vendors and laboratory staff. Acts as the liaison between vendor specialists and Fraser Health Information Management teams.
- Facilitates the development of changes and enhancements to the laboratory information systems as required to ensure the systems are consistent with current medical lab practice requirements. Prepares
- specifications for programs based on the requirements of the overall Laboratory Services department in Fraser Health, Fraser Health Information Management teams, and vendors.
- Coordinates program testing for new or revised laboratory information systems. Prepares detailed implementation plans and ensures that system implementation tasks are completed on time.
- Coordinates the installation of system interfaces and equipment, in collaboration with Fraser Health Information Management teams.
- Provides instruction to system users such as Pathologists, Medical Technologists, Laboratory Assistants, and Clerks on routine operations, maintenance, and problem correction; serves as an ongoing resource to system users.
- Investigates and corrects laboratory system errors and runs appropriate test programs.
- Coordinates the maintenance of databases for the laboratory information systems by assigning codes as appropriate to ensure comprehensive and congruent output.
- Develops and maintains procedures and manuals for laboratory information systems, including downtime procedures.
- Creates various reports for management purposes as required; works with the Information Management department and consults end users regarding report formats.
- Maintains the inventory of hardware and software used in the aboratory information systems.
- Performs other related duties as required.

**What you bring**

Qualifications
- Graduation from a recognized school of Medical Lab Science and Canadian Society of Medical Laboratory Science (CSMLS) Certified. Three (3) years of experience as a Laboratory Technologist, plus two (2) years of
- recent, related experience in the coordination, implementation, and maintenance of laboratory information systems. Degree or technical diploma in Computer Science, knowledge of Meditech Information Systems supplemented with courses in communications and/or customer service, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
- Demonstrated project management skills.
- Ability to deal with others effectively.
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to organize work.
- Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
- Ability to operate related equipment.
