**Organization Profile**

Founded in 1977, the Italian Cultural Centre’s mission is “to promote Italian language, culture and heritage and to share these with other communities”. Created by volunteers, with financial support from the Province of BC and the City of Vancouver, the Centre serves as a vital reference and focal point for the Lower Mainland’s Italian Canadian Community and for all those in the greater community who appreciate Italian culture “Il Centro” has operated for over 40 years and presents a broad spectrum of cultural programming, events and activities on an annual basis.

**Key Responsibilities include (but not limited to) the following**:

- The Pizzaiolo is responsible for creating exceptional consistent pizza - from pizza dough to the finished product. They are also responsible to support the; ordering, inventory, recipe/menu development and staff training and menu planning for the pizza menu.
- Adhere to the established pizza dough recipe determined by the administration.
- Must have 2 years experience in making Italian style Pizza and other Italian foods.
- Play a hands-on role to support back of house and front of house teams. Establish and follow set standards and lead by example.
- Take charge and run the service of the restaurant with the help of others as necessary.
- Have knowledge of all recipes, food preparation, service setup and plating.
- Proactively clean and maintain kitchen and other back of house areas.
- Ensure and record food temperatures and pizza fridge temperatures daily.
- Receive and stock orders, downsize containers and keep kitchen organized.
- Assist with the management of health and safety requirements.
- Communicate regularly with the Sous Chef and/or General Manager on what needs to be done, ordered, or serviced.
- Maintain quality of menu items, portion control and food waste reduction.
- Perform other reasonable job duties on a case-by-case basis.
- Train staff in preparing, cooking, and handling pizza related production.
- You get excited about good food You enjoy being part of the “show” of preparing and cooking great pizza to the delight of guests.
- You're innovative and enjoy creating new dishes and improving old dishes.
- Train staff in preparation, cooking and handling of pizza - from dough to finished product
- Plan Pizza menu, determine size of food portions, estimate food requirements and costs, and monitor and ensure required supplies are ordered.

**Job Requirements**:

- Food Safe Level 1 & First Aid.
- Minimum grade 12 education or equivalent
- WHMIS is an asset
- Training as a Pizzaiolo a definite asset
- Minimum 2+ years’ experience in a restaurant(s) and experience making Italian pizzas in a proper pizza oven.
- 3 years of professional cooking experience in a high-volume establishment is required.
- Great interpersonal skills
- Strong organizational skills and able to work in a team environment.
- Strong culinary skills
- Proven leadership skills
- Proactive, positive, energetic, responsible, and reliable.
- Ability to work calmly under pressure.

- Follow all company and safety and security policies and procedures, report maintenance needs, accidents, injuries, and unsafe work conditions to manager.
- Protect company assets.
- Must be fluent in English.
- The capacity to work under extreme pressure.
- Legally eligible to work in Canada
- Must be flexible to work, days, evenings, and weekends.
- Ability to lift to 70 lbs.
- Ensure uniform and personal appearance are clean and professional.
