Job description

Rotholme Family Shelter is an emergency shelter for families. We provide shelter for up to 20 families. While in shelter families are supported by Resident Care Workers with day to day shelter needs. Rotholme is staffed 24/7.

**Qualifications**:

- Post-Secondary School Education in Human/Social Services
- Experience in a social service position, preferably an emergency shelter or supporting homeless families or individuals
- Knowledge and ability to work with women, men, families and children in crisis
- Physical mobility and stamina for some kitchen and housekeeping tasks in a two story building
- Mandatory up to date First Aid/CPR (proof provided)
- NVCI Training an asset
- Valid Safe Food Handling Certification an asset
- Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams)

Experience with the HIFIS (Homeless Individuals and Families Information System) database an asset
- Effective verbal and written skills
- Ability to work as part of a team as well as independently as staff of a Christian based social service agency
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Understanding of the housing first philosophy
- Ability to make sound judgments and decisions
- Interested in organizing and implementing family friendly activities for families in shelter
- Ability to lift/carry up to approx 20lbs, go up stairs, station oneself at a work station, and other duties that may require mobility and stamina

**- Must be able to work a variety of shifts thought the month (7am-3pm, 3pm-11pm, 11pm-9am/7am) as we are a staffed 24/7.**
- French, Spanish, Arabic language skills an asset
- Must provide a current Criminal Reference Check upon hiring with Vulnerable Sector Screening

**Job Type**: Casual

**Salary**: $19.88 per hour
