PHASOR Engineering Inc. is a dynamic consulting firm specializing in the engineering and design of overhead & underground transmission/distribution systems, substations, fibre optics, as well as substation and transmission foundations. Our expertise allows us to be involved in a diverse range of projects from conceptual engineering through to commissioning and startup.

We are currently seeking a highly motivated **Design Technician** to join our Toronto engineering team. We offer a dynamic work environment with an extremely experienced technical team, where you will be fully involved in all aspects of the engineering and design process. Responsibilities:

- Assist in the design of overhead and underground power delivery systems ranging from 4kV to 27.6kV by creating detailed scopes and estimates, performing calculations, developing design drawings following applicable utility standards specifically Toronto Hydro Standard.
- Provide procurement support, material take-offs, requisitions, and technical evaluations.
- Support Professional Engineers with detailed technical studies and/or calculations; preparation of cost estimates; the creation of equipment specifications and installation standards; requests for quotation; evaluation of new equipment.
- Prepare, create, modify, or review civil and electrical design such as, AC/DC electrical schematics, equipment layouts, mechanical drawings, highway crossing, train track crossing, bridge crossing, etc.
- Assist project engineer to perform engineering calculations such as voltage drop, pole loading analysis, cable pulling calculation.
- Prepare, create, modify, or review civil and electrical design such as, Cable Chamber/Vault, equipment layouts, mechanical drawings, highway crossing, train track crossing, bridge crossing, etc.
- Conduct routine field trips to verify or evaluate the condition/state of assets, to determine the feasibility of designs, to take detailed measurements, and take pictures.
- Proficient to complete CAD work in accordance with Subsurface Utility Engineering Standards with MicroStation
- Review and calculate invert data for congested civil subsurface utility design to generate sufficient profile/cross section.
- Read, understand, and interpret various types of underground civil utility drawings.
- Perform initial Quality Control (QC) of field deliverables according to standards and best practices.
- Understand and correlate between utility records, construction plans, and field documents (sketches / notations / survey files) to document the presence of underground and/or aerial utilities.
- Familiarity with Electrical Power Distribution design is an asset.
- Assist project engineer in review of designs, plans, drawings, surveys, studies (load, etc.) and/or calculations.

Typical duties/responsibilities may include, but are not limited to the following:
Qualifications:

- Diploma in Electrical/Civil Engineering Technology or Degree in Electrical/Civil Engineering.
- Experience in design, and construction is an asset.
- Familiarity with power system operations, practices, and installation standards would be ideal.
- Valid Class 5 Driver’s License
