The incumbent brings together a range of services related to access and privacy, including consultation on best practices, as well as developing and implementing privacy management frameworks, policies, and procedures. This job operates within the context of various legislative requirements and case precedents, government policy, and the practical realities of Division business.

The job provides the appropriate level of responses to questions or requests for consultation. In addition, the incumbent ensures that the operations of the Division are in accordance with the FOIP Act while considering other pieces of legislation. The job is also responsible for the development and monitoring of access and privacy policies and procedures within the Division in accordance with relevant legislation, practises, and procedures.

**Job Responsibilities Include**:

- Receive and process formal and informal access to information requests including working with Division staff to retrieve records, estimate fees, collect fees, and redact records based on the FOIP Act
- Manage and maintain records relating to all access to information requests, including the monitoring, tracking, and reporting of access to information requests
- Respond to reviews from the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner (OIPC) and support General Counsel in responding to inquiries
- Advise on the development of strategies or frameworks for initiatives to ensure compliance with legislation
- Advise and update the Chief Superintendent and General Counsel on a wide range of requests and issues
- Provide training and advice to Division staff on issues related to access to information requests, protection of privacy activities, and breaches
- Provide advice and guidance in area of expertise
- Update, maintain, and support access and privacy information on the Division website and the unit’s SharePoint site
- Develop, maintain, and implement the Division’s privacy framework, including policies, procedures, guidelines, and standards
- Provide privacy-related advice to Division staff, including the development of forms, Privacy Impact Assessments (PIAs), risk assessments, and Information Sharing Agreements
- Investigate and respond to privacy complaints in accordance with the Alberta FOIP Act, Alberta Education Act, Student Record Regulation, and other relevant orders/acts/regulations
- Manage and coordinate activities relating to breaches, including conducting investigations, advising breach-related queries to Division staff
- Assist the Coordinator, Records and Information Management in delivery of services including development and maintenance of records retention guidelines
- Act as Coordinator, Records and Information Management during absences
- Contribute to the development of new policies and training associated with records, information, access, and privacy
- Review and revise policies, procedures, and guidelines on an ongoing basis
- Assist in determining access rights to information for Division staff
- Participate in unit meetings and activities
- Contribute to short-term and long-term strategic planning activities
- Assist unit staff during peak workloads
- Provide cover-off during absences in the unit
- Participate and collaborate on projects and initiatives
- Review best practices and make recommendations to enhance work efficiency and accuracy
- Complete projects managed by the unit
- Contribute to the development of new policies and procedures
- Maintain and upgrade required knowledge through a range of professional development activities including workshops and self-study
- Identify staff professional development needs and recommend to the director for approval
- Develop and deliver approved professional development sessions
- Provide guidance and advice to Division staff in area of expertise

**Qualifications Include**:
**Degree, or diploma in an area related to Business, Public Management, Public Administration, Education, or equivalent, plus five years of directly related experience**
- Certification in the Information Access and Privacy Program, Certified Information Privacy Professional, Canadian Institute of Access and Privacy Professionals preferred
- Training/participation in the FOIP Network preferred
- Knowledge of current FOIP orders and reviews made by the Office of the Information a
