Leader Name: Managing Director, Risk Advisory and Management

Work Arrangement: Hybrid - You’ll work both remote and onsite, where time onsite is based on your job accountabilities and performance objectives.

**As ATB’s next Director in Special Loans** (what we internally call Corporate Risk Advisory and Management), you will manage a portfolio of distressed accounts and act as an advisor to sales teams on challenging accounts. The position will focus on developing strategies and risk mitigation while working with borrowers to turnaround businesses or maximizing recoveries when navigating to an exit. Additional responsibilities include:

- Analyzes status quo, client forecast and business plan, challenges borrower’s assumptions, develops and executes credit restructuring plan or exit strategy (including enforcement) in order to manage risk and minimize losses on non-viable business loans;
- Uses legal action (including formal insolvency processes) and other strategies to recover value for ATB;
- Assesses collateral value and conducts ongoing assessment of financial records in order to monitor risk and adapts strategies based on change in risk;
- Leads difficult conversations, builds strong relationship with client, and negotiates terms of amendments and forbearance agreements;
- Works and communicates effectively with restructuring professionals, insolvency counsels, valuators, and financial advisors;
- Works closely with Associate Director assigned to portfolio to ensure that customer service expectations and credit quality is maintained; and
- Adjudicate corporate credits for Credit Adjudications when excess capacity in Risk Advisory & Management.

**Requirements**:

- At least 5 years of accounting or banking experience; special loans or restructuring and insolvency experience would be considered an asset

- Able to quickly gain working knowledge of a business and identify the underlying cause of financial distress.
- Mastery-level knowledge of relevant industries, deal restructuring, the business cycle, and credit restructuring practices
- Demonstrated credibility through professional track record, integrity, and business knowledge
- Exceptional communication and negotiation skills with the ability to develop consensus and to influence key stakeholders
- Work well under pressure and able to make decisions based on limited information
