**What you can expect do here**:
- Work closely and collaboratively with Senior Arborists, Ecologists and Landscape Architects
- Tree inventories and associated field work
- Review tree protection by-laws to determine study scope and prepare tree removal permits
- Assess impacts to trees from proposed developments and infrastructure
- Arborist report writing, proposal and occasional presentation preparation
- Attend meetings as an arboriculture representative for WSP
- Interpretation and assessment of Species at Risk requirements and implications on projects
- Collaboration with multidisciplinary teams on a wide range of project types
- Participation in and contribution to office activities, initiatives, and learning opportunities.
- Prepare Tree Preservation and Restoration Plans
**What you’ll bring to WSP**:
- ISA Certified Arborist
- A Degree or Diploma in Ecology, Biology, Environmental Studies, Landscape Architecture or Landscape Technology; or similar, relevant education
- 1-3+ years of professional experience working for either a consulting or tree service company (recent graduates with strong, relevant work experience may also be considered)
- Excellent written and verbal communications skills Strong tree identification and assessment skills
**The following qualifications are strongly desired**:
- Experience performing Butternut Health Assessment (BHA)
- Experience with AutoCAD
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite
- Proficiency with GIS and GIS software and hand-held GPS units
- A valid driver’s license and ability to travel within the GTA/Southern Ontario to visit project sites
- Ability to conduct fieldwork independently on a variety of sites Ability to work independently, show initiative and contribute positively to a multidisciplinary team
**The following qualifications considered an asset but not required**:
- Tree Risk Assessment Qualifications
- Membership with the OALA
- Project coordination experience Experience / interest in Landscape Design and Detailing.
