We are seeking an experienced Assistant Controller to join our finance team. The Assistant Controller will be responsible for overseeing the company's financial reporting process, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and compliance with relevant regulations and standards.

**Responsibilities**:

- Manage the preparation and consolidation of financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements
- Ensure timely and accurate reporting of financial statements for presentation to internal and external stakeholders including investment group, various health authorities, etc
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to review and analyze financial statements to identify opportunities and areas of improvement
- Maintain a robust internal control environment to ensure the integrity of financial information
- Develop and maintain financial reporting processes and systems to keep up with high growth
- Continuously evaluate and improve existing financial reporting processes and systems
- Lead, develop and mentor the financial reporting team
- Manage the year-end audit process and act as the primary point of contact for external auditors
- Prepare ad-hoc financial analysis and reports as needed

**What you need to succeed**:

- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- CPA (preferably CPA, CA) designation or equivalent certification
- 7-10 years combined auditing experience and industry financial reporting experience
- Minimum 2 years experience as a manager or team lead with proven ability to lead and manage projects and teams
- Strong understanding of ASPE and IFRS reporting requirements
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present complex financial information to a non-financial audience
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
- Senior living or real estate industry experience strongly preferred
- Experience with ERP systems, specifically Yardi is a plus
