**Mission **Statement**:

- The Regina Open Door Society (RODS) is a non-profit organization that provides settlement and integration services to refugees and immigrants in Regina. RODS is committed to meeting the needs of newcomers by offering programs and services to enable them to achieve their goals and participate fully in the larger community.

We are located in the City of Regina on Treaty 4 land, which is recognized as the traditional territory of the nêhiyawak/Cree, Nahkawē/Saulteaux, Anihšināpēk, Dakota, Lakota, Nakoda, and the homeland of the Métis Nation.

**Position** **Summary**:
This position's primary responsibility is providing one-on-one in-person employment counselling to newcomers to Canada to assist them in achieving their employment goals. The incumbent provides assistance and information to job seekers on all aspects of employment search, career planning, personal marketing tools, essential employment skills and the Saskatchewan labour market landscape.

**Requirements**:

- Bachelor's Degree in Adult Education, Social Services or other related fields
- Training and experience in employment counselling, job coaching and instruction including the development of employment-related workshops/training
- Well-developed interpersonal and relationship-building skills; ability to establish rapport and excellent communication with staff, clients and employers
- Experience and sensitivity in working with newcomers to Canada, including those with limited English language skills
- Strong technological skills (Microsoft Suite, Google Workspace, Google Classroom, SMART Boards, Databases and online communication platforms)
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, collaboration and organization skills
- Proven accountability, resourcefulness, initiative, and professionalism
- Ability to research, identify and develop content suitable to the learning needs of the clients
- Displaying in-depth knowledge of market trends, available training, educational and employment opportunities, job competencies, employer requirements and community resources
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with competing priorities, and tight deadlines
- Certified Career Development Practitioner (CCDP) designation would be an asset

**Duties and **Responsibilities**:

- Provide one on one employment counselling to newcomers
- Identify barriers to employment and assist clients with the career action plan development
- Assist clients with job readiness skills, job search strategies, writing résumés and preparing for job interviews, etc.
- Assess clients' needs for assistance with educational credential evaluations, financial assistance, and further trainings and refer clients to the appropriate services
- Remain current on labour market trends and effective job search techniques
- Collect labour market information for clients regarding job openings, skill requirements and other occupational information
- Refer clients to employment readiness workshops and other alternate employment programs and events conducted in the department
- Refer clients to other RODS services or external organizations as appropriate
- Enter client data into the database, record, update and maintain clients' progress notes and submit monthly and annual reports to the Employment Services Manager
- Follow-up with clients for employment maintenance and evaluation
- Connect with the job developers to tap in the hidden job market and employment opportunities for client
