**Responsibilities**:

- Develops and implements the Industrial Science program strategy, working collaboratively with other Science Division Managers to ensure effective integration with beamline operations and ancillary facilities.
- Oversees the development, implementation and maintenance of the Industrial Science operational policies and procedures, including the allocation of beamtime utilization for the industrial science program.
- Assesses the security implications and risks related to client experiments.
- Reviews and authorizes the final statements of work for client experiments and holds final accountability for their subsequent implementation, which encompasses scope, schedule, pricing, contract deliverables, risk assessments, quality, resourcing and revenue, ensuring effective collaboration with other CLSI divisions (e.g. Finance, HSE, Machine).
- Coordinates with CLS Users’ Office and beamline staff for access to beamlines to conduct client experiments.
- Oversees the work of the Industrial Science team to ensure client expectations are met or exceeded with regards to the validity of the scientific content and interpretation of results.
- Acts as a liaison with industrial clients by monitoring progress, tracking milestones, managing risks and pro-actively addressing issues or obstacles as they arise, holding final accountability for the quality of synchrotron science services delivered.
- Identifies additional facility and service needs required by clients and collaborates with other Science Division staff regarding the use of off-line instruments (e.g. SyLMAND, ESEM, XPS, etc.) to meet client needs.
- Collaborates, supervises, and leads research activities generated within the Industrial Science to ensure the techniques and methodologies available for clients are state of the art, whenever possible.
- Oversees the safe and effective use of science laboratories as well as the industrial science laboratory.
- Collaborates on the maintenance, upgrade and enhancement activities coordinated by beamline Scientists on all beamlines to ensure the activities to support the Industrial Science short and long-term operational needs are considered and supported.
- Participates and represents Industrial Science interests on internal and external committees, which includes interacting with other national and international facilities to develop collaborations to improve CLSI practices and meet client needs.
- Encourages and supports the development of IP internally and externally through collaborations with industry and academic users.
- Prepares and presents quarterly reports to the Business Development Committee of the CLSI Board, and other CLSI stakeholder committees (e.g., SAC, UEC) as required.
- Seeks opportunities to attract users and diversify the user base by organizing industry-focused workshops, and by attending trade shows, conferences, and workshops of potential industrial relevance.
- Participates in the development of the Industrial Science’s operating and capital budget, monitors needs within the Science Division, and provides advice regarding the proper utilization of financial resources.

**Qualifications**:

- A relevant degree is required. A Ph.D. in Natural Sciences or Engineering is strongly preferred, supplemented with formal business education.
- A minimum of five years of supervisory or management experience.
- Previous experience working with industry clients in a synchrotron or scientific laboratory.
- Previous project management experience requiring cultivation of stakeholder relationships.
- Exceptional organizational, interpersonal, and communication (oral and written) skills.
- Experience working in industry is an asset.

**Salary**:The salary range for this position will be $111,775 - $141,500.

**Remuneration**: Remuneration will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. A comprehensive benefits package, including supplemental health & dental, life insurance, pension plan, and four weeks’ vacation is part of a competitive compensation package.
