**Role description**:
Arcadis Canada is currently seeking a junior level Radiation Specialist to join our Rad-Risk Group in Ontario. The Rad-Risk Group sits within the larger Global Resilience Business Area. As a Radiation Specialist you will provide project support in the areas of radiation risk assessment, radiation monitoring and surveying, and radiation protection. This role has the flexibility to work remote if desired with travel to site as required.

As part of our Environmental team, you’ll help improve quality of life. With your specialism in environmental management, or your technical or sustainability expertise, your work could involve protected species, pollution, surface water and materials management, air quality or noise. And in some of the world’s busiest and most beautiful locations.

**Role accountabilities**:
The Radiation Specialist will be part of a team of professionals working on a variety of different projects within the Rad-Risk Group related to the following:

- Risk and Safety Assessments (Radiological and Chemical),
- Radiation Shielding Assessments,
- Regulatory Licensing and Compliance,
- Impact Assessments (including HHERA and public and Indigenous communications),
- Radiological Monitoring and Survey Plans, and,
- Radiation Protection Program Management and Oversight.

The Radiation Specialist will work closely and efficiently under the supervision of the Project Managers on a project basis, on activities such as:

- Environmental data analysis and interpretation,
- Writing technical reports for clients and government as well as non-technical documents for members of the public,
- Performing and documenting risk assessment calculations (model (e.g., MicroShield, RESRAD, MCNP) or spreadsheet-based), and very occasionally dispersion and/or shielding calculations,
- Carrying out quality assurance checks of calculations and reports,
- Literature and data reviews for selection of calculations parameters, and
- Coordination of project budgets and schedules.
- Assist with the preparation of proposals, including scope, work plan, corporate qualifications, budget and schedule.
- Take responsibility for quality processes on all projects and reports.

**Qualifications & Experience**:

- Bachelor’s Degree in Science, Radiation Science, Nuclear Science, Health Physics, Engineering, or similar field. Master’s degree in Science, Radiation Science, Nuclear Science, Health Physics, Engineering, or similar field preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience working in a related field.

Preferred Qualifications:

- Skills related to mathematics (statistics), radiochemistry, radiological engineering, health physics, radiation protection, experience with shielding models would be considered a significant asset.
