charter school in Alberta, soon to be serving over 4000 students in eight campuses throughout
the city. We offer educational programming through a Distinctive Teaching and Learning
Framework developed within the Alberta context for students from Kindergarten to Grade 12.

**FFCA is seeking to hire a Speech Language Pathologist commencing August 12, 2024.**

**Position Summary**

The Speech Language Pathologist position at FFCA is part of the inclusion team based out of
central office. This multi-disciplinary team works collaboratively with staff in each campus to
ensure students have the universal, targeted and specialized supports required to engage at
their fullest potential with FFCA’s whole group instructional approach.

In this role, you will provide evidence-informed supports and conduct assessments as needed in
collaboration with the multi-disciplinary team. Reporting to the Coordinator of Inclusion, you will
work with students as a direct service provider and with educational staff as a consultant and
educator.

**Responsibilities**

As a member of our multidisciplinary team, the Speech Language Pathologist:
1. Completes speech screening and assessments for FFCA K-12 students;
2. Consults closely with teachers, educational and therapeutic assistants,

therapists, social workers, specialists and parents/guardians to develop
intervention plans, guide student supports, and review students’ progress;
3. Consults with the Student Services multi-disciplinary team
4. Completes assessment and intervention reports to share with parents/guardians

and professionals within and outside of FFCA.
5. Provides speech-language therapy intervention within the context of typical

classroom activities;
6. Supports students with complex communication needs in K-12 outside the

classroom context as needed.
7. Supervises speech language pathologist assistants (SLPA);
8. Supports speech language pathologist assistants and other educational

assistants in providing developmentally appropriate intervention supports to
students;
9. Establishes and maintains an inventory of materials, assessments, and supplies

10. Provides support in implementing assistive technology and/or speech generating
devices as needed

11. Maintains appropriate, confidential records, and provides timely reports
(complying with standards of Alberta Education)

12. Performs other related responsibilities as required.

**Qualifications
- Education and Experience
- Master’s degree in speech pathology or equivalent from an accredited University
- Program.- Current registration with the Alberta College of Speech-Language Pathologists

and audiologists ACSLPA) including continuing professional development and
professional liability as per ACSLPA guidelines;
- Experience working with children/students with special needs and their families.
- Preference may be given to occupational therapists with experience in a school
- based setting.- Demonstrated Skills and Competencies
- Assessment and diagnostic skills.
- Ability to work with a minimum of supervision.
- Strong listening, verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills with ability to work as a member of an educational

team.

**The initial contract will be probationary in nature for a period of one year. A continuous**
**probationary period.**
