**Part-time School Support Worker**

**Overview**:
We’re looking for a fun, inclusive, neuro-diversity affirming professional to act as a part-time school shadow and support person for our 7.5 year old autistic son. Our son is considered mínimally verbal. He is sweet, silly, kind and intelligent. He loves physical activity including biking, soccer, skating and swimming, sensory-seeking activities, cooking, music and is motivated by watching his peers and being independent.

You will have the opportunity to shadow and learn from our program director who has worked closely with our son for three years under the direction of Jonathan Alderson,founder of IMTIand author of Challenging the Myths of Autism.

**Hours and Scope**

We’re looking for an afternoon person, ideally with a **noon or 1 pm start time until 5:30 pm** ideally Monday to Friday (**approximately 20-25 hours a week)**. There will be some variations in schedule due to after school programming and we can be somewhat flexible in coordination with our morning support person/program director.

**Compensation and Start Date**

$25 to $30 per hour (commensurate with experience).

A one year commitment is required as our son does get attached.

We’re located in Mount Pleasant East

**Qualifications & Prerequisites**
- Must have a valid driver's license (car will be provided)
- A relevant degree or diploma
- Ideally a minimum 1-2 years of experience supporting and/or teaching a person with autism or special needs.
- Fluent in English
- Patience, kindness, compassion and belief in our son’s capabilities
- A neuro-diversity affirming mentality
