**VOLUNTEER COORDINATOR**
**REPORTS TO**: Head of Guest & Member Experience
**POSITION TYPE**: Part-time, 15-25 hrs/week, flexible work schedule with some evenings and weekends mandatory.
**COMPENSATION**: Hourly salary of $20.00/hr with benefits, OMERS pension plan, free onsite parking
The Volunteer Coordinator will work collaboratively across departments to generate innovative, dynamic, and creative approaches to volunteer engagement. The Volunteer Coordinator manages the Gallery’s Volunteer Program and provides leadership through direct supervision of Gallery volunteers. The position is responsible for increasing the number of people who support the Gallery as volunteers.
**Primary Responsibilities**
- Overall direction and coordination of the Volunteer Program.
- Develops a system to recruit, select, place, schedule, and train volunteers for various departmental positions.
- Oversees onboarding, training, scheduling, coaching, and evaluating the performance of all volunteers.
- Collaborates with departmental staff to design new volunteer opportunities.
- Coordinates the planning and execution of volunteer recognition events for volunteers.
- Yearly submits volunteer nominations for awards.
- Creates a comfortable, inclusive, and welcoming atmosphere where all staff and volunteers feel appreciated and engaged.
**Other Responsibilities**:
- Work to further the goals and objectives of the AGB and participate actively in the institution’s life. Act in a respectful, accountable, and generous manner towards other staff, volunteers, and the general public.
- Demonstrate a positive professional presence, inspiring and building confidence both within the AGB and outside the institution among a broad range of constituencies.
- Demonstrate a commitment to the AGB’s Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion priorities, ensuring that diverse audiences are represented, promoted, and engaged.
- Other duties as assigned.
**Education & Experience**:
- Minimum two years customer service leadership within a Gallery of gallery environment
- Lived or related post-secondary education, preferably in cultural and arts management studies, business administration, fundraising, or communications.
**Qualifications**:
- Ability to work independently and within a team environment.
- Ability to take initiative and prioritize tasks; excellent time-management and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication skills, and ability to follow written/oral directions.
- Demonstrates strong supervision skills with staff/volunteers.
- Demonstrates good judgment, critical problem solving and conflict management.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize.
- Ability to interact with members, volunteers, and public in a positive, enthusiastic manner.
- Ability to represent the Gallery with a high level of integrity and professionalism, adhere to gallery policies and support management decisions in a positive, professional manner.
- Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to work with the public, visitors, members, stakeholders, donors, and volunteers.
- Knowledge and passion for Gallerys/art galleries, community volunteer and history are essential.
- Charity Republic or other volunteer management software knowledge is an asset.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite is a requirement.
- Smart Serve, First Aid and CPR certificates would be an asset
**Working Environment**:
- Office working environment.
- Most of the work is performed in a Gallery environment with an attendant noise level.
- Must be able to work some nights and weekends.
