**Position Purpose**
This position is responsible for the development and implementation of a comprehensive maintenance system for all recreation facilities and grounds managed under the Sooke & Electoral Area Parks & Recreation Commission (SEAPARC) to ensure safe and well maintained facilities for patrons and staff. SEAPARC operates a pool, arena, weight room, sport box, golf course, skate park, bike park, ball field and several multipurpose spaces.

**Key Accountabilities/Position Outcomes**
- Oversees, directs and supervises the operation, maintenance and repair of facilities, equipment and grounds ensuring all are maintained effectively and in a fiscally responsible manner.
- Ensures policies, processes, systems and occupational health & safety standards are in place to support the operations of park and recreation facilities.
- Liaise with and oversee work by contractors, including contract management and health & safety requirements. Plays a key role in managing major facility capital upgrades to ensure program and fiscal goals are met.
- Ensures regulatory compliance
- Managers operating budget and 5 year capital plan
- Liaise with other CRD departments to provide technical assistance and guidance to ensure relevant legislation and guidelines are met.
- Monitors and recommends strategies for improvement in energy performance of SEAPARC facilities.
- Evaluates and makes recommendations on facility adaptations for climate change.
- Oversees the procurement process for the maintenance/operations section.
- Prepares staff reports and presents to the Commission.
- Uses leadership, coaching and employee development practices to create a highly engaged team of staff.
- Participates as part of the SEAPARC management team in implementing and communicating the strategic direction.

**Qualifications**
- Technical diploma or degree in a related discipline
- A minimum of 5 years' directly related experience
- An equivalent combination of education and experience

**Certifications**
- 4th Class Power Engineering Certificate
- Pool Operator Certificate Level 2
- WHMIS Certification
- Valid BC Driver's Licence

- Ability to develop and maintain a comprehensive maintenance program, including training staff and establishing and maintaining a preventative maintenance program.
