**The Opportunity**
Recreation and Culture Services builds vibrant, healthy, active and connected communities by providing facilities and programs that give all Barrie residents an opportunity to participate in recreational activities. Key responsibilities include identifying community recreation needs and interests, developing and delivering recreation opportunities which meet these needs and interests, maintaining and operating recreational and cultural facilities to provide a setting for these activities, and managing the provision of space to external community providers and groups.
Under the general guidance and direction of the Recreation Programmer, and reporting to the Recreation Supervisor, the League Convenor is responsible for the co-ordination, administration and operation of the City of Barrie’s sports leagues and tournaments. Specifically, this front line position requires strong communication, time management, leadership, conflict resolution and excellent customer service skills.

**Education **(degree/diploma/certifications)
- High School/College/University Student*
- Minimum of 18 years of age
- Standard First Aid, CPR Level C, and Automated External Defibrillator (AED) Certifications**:
- HIGH FIVE® Principles of Healthy Child Development Certificate from HIGH FIVE® National**
**Must provide proof by first date of employment- Position Equivalency Code: N/A
**Experience**
- Basic computer literacy utilizing Microsoft Office Suite and Zoom
- Six (6) months of experience working or volunteering and performing duties related to the above mentioned major responsibilities; or minimum 24 months of league play experience
- Demonstrated experience with adults
**Knowledge/Skill/Ability**
- Demonstrated Ability to:
- maintain a high standard of customer service at all times
- perform in a manner which is consistent with corporate goals, vision, mission, and values
- exert effort to lift, push, pull, or carry objects for short periods of time
- exert effort to perform physical tasks such as standing, walking, reaching, grasping, bending forward, stooping, kneeling, crouching or turning
- Intermediate verbal communication, written communication, interpersonal, and customer service
- Intermediate computer literacy using the following systems and software: Basic computer literacy utilizing Microsoft Office Suite and Zoom
- Availability to work evenings, weekends, or holidays
**Conditions of Employment**
- Valid Ontario Class “G2” or greater Driver’s Licence in good standing with a reliable vehicle to use on corporate business
- Satisfactory Criminal Record and Vulnerable Sector Checks*
- **These MUST be provided by first date of employment**
- Please note that this is a requirement for any new employees to the City of Barrie in accordance with the **Police Record Check Procedure**. Existing employees who have met this criteria will be exempt from this requirement.
**Other Important Information**
**Work Term**:December 2024/January 2025 - November 2025
**Hours**: The normal hours of work are up to and including 24 hours per week with a varying schedule to support business demand.
**Wage**: This is a casual part-time non-union position with the following 2024 pay range:
- Hourly Pay Rate: $24.61 to $33.38
**Location**: Allandale Recreation Centre (190 Bayview Drive, Barrie), East Bayfield Community Centre (80 Livingstone Street East, Barrie), Peggy Hill Team Community Centre (171 Mapleton Avenue, Barrie)
