This is a 7 days on 7 days off camp based position. Fly in fly out offered from Edmonton and Calgary or bussing based out of Lac La Biche. 11.43 hours/day (80 hours/shift). Camp accommodations are provided.

General Description of role:
Managing administrative laboratory duties as well as daily laboratory testing. Main support for the Coordinator, Lab on managing daily operation of the Main Lab,
and as a support for the Lab Technicians. To consistently produce reliable results while adhering to the requirements of ISO/IEC 17025:2005 as well as the
requirements set forth in the CL lab Quality Management System (QMS).
Accountabilities / Responsibilities:

- Support Coordinator, Lab, with lab operation, safety, environmental systems and issues, ISO/IEC 17025 and LIMS implementation and maintenance
- Third party lab data management and invoice coding
- Support stake holders on projects, R&D and operations optimization
- Compiles weekly SLT update, KPI and data reports and submits to Sr. Technologist, Lab for approval
- Acts as approver and distributor of all reports if Coordinator, Lab is off site
- Knowledge of plant areas and work teams, know where to find historical data, full understanding of document retention, report approver when necessary
- Support Coordinator, Lab on projects and operation optimization
- Liaison for third party labs with knowledge of their capabilities and ability to determine the right test for the right result considering sample matrix
- Proven ability to troubleshoot instrument and procedure problems
- Demonstrate a working knowledge of applicable Cenovus prescribed software and programs
- Keep inventory up-to-date and order new supplies through Maximo
- Deal with Procurement group on issues related to ordering supplies
- Writes, reviews and revises Standard Operating Procedures
- Trains and sign-off all lab technicians on laboratory processes and procedures
- Carry out routine and non-routine lab testing and data entry, when necessary
- Thorough understanding of testing procedures and instruments
- Maintain both Operations satellite labs as well as Main Lab by ensuring instruments are calibrated and working correctly and chemical inventory is stocked, whennecessary
- Ensure daily Quality Assurance and Quality Control is performed, documented and charted for all lab instruments and/or equipment
- Troubleshoot instrument/technical issues along with the resulting documentation
- Identify issues that impact safety, environment and/or production
- Report any safety issues that come up and help contribute to ideas for avoiding accidents and improving the overall safety at the Christina Lake facility
Role Profile
- Maintains records of reference standards and materials used
- Maintains all reference materials, standards, instrument and/or product certificates
- Verify test methods and reference standards are in accordance with the Lab standards
- Look for and lead efforts to improve processes and procedures
- Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) using Thermo SampleManager program back-up super user.
- Act as back-up for Coordinator, Lab and Lab Technicians, when required
- Support any other business requirements determined by the Coordinator, Lab

Required:

- 6-8 years lab experience
- ISO/IEC 17025:2005 knowledge
- Must be legally entitled to work in Canada
- A university science degree (BSc) or technical diploma in Chemical Technology
- Valid class 5 driver’s license
- Subject to the requirements of alcohol and drug policy, including pre-assignment screening, as this is a safety sensitive position

Would be an Asset:

- SAGD experience
- Petroleum Laboratory experience
- Water Testing experience
- Experience with reading and working with Process and Instrumentation

**Job Type**: Fly-In/Fly-Out

**Salary**: $35.00-$40.00 per hour
