**Behaviour Analyst, Extensive Needs Service and Early Learning and Development (Nursery Schools)**

**Position Summary**

This is an exciting opportunity for an innovative and experienced Behaviour Analyst to join the Extensive Needs Service, a new program for individuals up to the age of 18, whose needs cannot be met in a single service stream and who require an integrated approach across Mental, Behavioural and Developmental Health. This unique position provides specialized support both to the ambulatory Extensive Needs Service at Holland Bloorview as well the Early Learning and Development (ELD) integrated nursery schools.

This role involves working with an interprofessional team (ECEs, OT, PT, SLP, CDA) to collaborate, in order to address the evolving, complex and varied mental health, developmental and/or behavioural needs of children in the program that are outside the scope of ECEs and other therapy staff expertise. As an integral member of the interprofessional team, the Behavioural Analyst will provide trauma-informed and compassionate treatment and consultation that is individualized and offered both in clinic and within the context of a play-based model of education and care. The Behavioural Analyst role, based on best practices and evidence, will also provide knowledge translation to staff for professional development and guidance to families to support access to additional services if warranted.

**Behaviour Analyst**

Key Responsibilities:

- Partner with Early Childhood Educators (ECE) and other therapy staff to formulate and implement individualized client-centred goals with focused, targeted and measurable outcomes within the integrated nursery school setting
- Builds strong rapport with clients and families to understand their values to effectively collaborate and formulate recommendations individualized goals
- Interface and problem-solve with members of the interprofessional care team and community providers as appropriate to ensure an integrated approach to care.
- Ensures all behaviour assessment and treatment plans focus on safety, client and family dignity, and rapport building
- Design behaviour assessment plans using relevant evidence-based tools including practical functional analyses
- Design skill-based treatment plans as appropriate to support reduction of interfering-behaviour through teaching contextually appropriate behaviours normative the early childhood development in collaboration with clients and families as per their goals
- Trains RBT/Behaviour Technicians to assist in behaviour assessment and implement treatment plans
- Clinically supervises RBT/Behaviour Technicians implementation of treatment plans and provides supportive feedback
- Makes data driven decision to amend treatment plans in consultation with client, families, ECEs and therapy team.
- Responsive to the changing needs of a nursery school classroom clients and families and demonstrates flexibility to adapt treatment plans and goals as necessary
- Partners with interprofessional team members and families to provide education and coaching to implement strategies and generalize skills in all nursery school environments (gym, playground), at home and across the community
- Makes appropriate referrals to other services, agencies, etc.
- Demonstrates familiarity with current literature, issues and trends of practice specific to young children in particular.
- Participates in regular quality improvement activities to further refine clinical practice, equitable and efficient service for clients and families
- Shares new knowledge and best practices with colleagues, students and other professionals within the organization, professional body and community
- Participates in quality improvement initiatives, supports the maintenance of a safe and healthy work environment and advances a culture of client/patient safety through work and daily practices
- Other duties as assigned

Position Requirements:

- Board Certified Behaviour Analyst in good standing with the Behaviour Analyst Certification Board
- Strong knowledge and experience supporting children and youth with neurodevelopmental conditions, acquired brain injuries, and mental health conditions
- Extensive clinical experience including a minimum of two years providing behaviour analytic services to children and youth with varying abilities who engage in interfering behaviours including aggression, self-injury, property destruction, etc.
- Ability to train and clinically supervise RBTs/Behaviour Therapists
- Extensive experience providing parent coaching to implement behaviour analytic strategies across environments
- Demonstrated knowledge in practical functional analyses and skill-based treatment methods
- Ability to supervise staff and students working towards their BCBA certification is considered an asset
