Apatisiwin Program Coordinator, under the direction of the Executive Director or Designate, is responsible for leading an effort to support employment and training activities and outcomes to urban Indigenous individuals. The Apatisiwin Program Coordinator will ensure the effective delivery of the program such that direct service users gain education, experience, and skills to improve employability and/or achieve and maintain meaningful employment.

**QUALIFICATIONS**:

- Two (2) year post-secondary education in Social Service Work and/or Indigenous Studies or a combination of equivalent and relevant education;
- A minimum of 2 years' experience in a community organization and/or experience with Indigenous population;
- Minimum 3 years of demonstrated and related experience working in an Indigenous organization is an asset;
- Knowledge of Indigenous and non-Indigenous community services and supports;
- Familiar with occupational and other labor market information, regarding the nature of occupations, occupational requirements, vocations, apprenticeships, entrepreneurship and guidance material pertaining to employment related legislation/regulations;
- Experience completing intakes, assessments, contracts, referral services, and evaluations;
- Ability to assess client’s employment readiness and literacy needs in order to become employment ready and develop action plans that will assist the client in reaching their employment and training goals;
- Ability to develop an inventory of services available within the community for employment and training services;
- Skilled in networking and partnering with other Friendship Centre programs, Indigenous and mainstream organizations related to employment and training;
- High flexibility with strong interpersonal skills that allow one to work effectively in a diverse environment;
- Non-Violent Crisis Intervention Training;
- First Aid/CPR certification; and,
- Satisfactory Criminal Record check (CPIC) or Vulnerable Sector Search (if applicable).

HRIC is a highly flexible organization offering 2 weeks paid vacation, additional compensation including 5 paid cultural days (as per HRIC Personnel Policy guidelines), 4 paid holidays beyond mandatory Employment Standards, paid shutdown over the Christmas holiday week, and health benefits. HRIC health benefits are offered to full time permanent employees, employees will be able to enroll upon the successful completion of their (3) three-month probationary period.
